1990 Honda Prelude Engine.

If a timing belt breaks in a 1990 Honda Prelude, would the engine need to be replaced or can you just replace the timing belt and run the car again?

prelude engine

if the engine was ideling and it broke it might be fine but if u were driving it at around 3000rpm u might have bent a valve. or made a dent in a piston.

Like others have mentioned, depends on the driving conditions and what you did after the car turned off..

Like did you sit there and try to crank it over and over for a long time?

Generally most cars will run if you replace the belt, but the engine may have issues. IE - A 90 accord I had blew a belt and would never go past 140KM/HR after that.
