Hey ton1c, I hope all is well with you.
I am a paid member, is a 'site donator' a step above a paid member status?
I read the perks you get for becoming a site donator so I assume it is a step higher.
I don't understand regarding seeing people who are invisible? Does that mean I can see there name if they are online even though they are invisible?
Also, my PM messages will remain the same at 1000 messages, correct?
I'm interested.
Get back to me, thanks.
Regards,
Dan

to all who are asking about invisible mode, i believe if you have invisible mode on, you can post and surf forums normally and do everything that you would do normally but other users (expect for administrators) can not see you and your activity as being online on the forums, they will just see you as if you are not on the forums (offline).
if you see that green circle under your avatar and other information on the left, that means you are visible to everyone, and users can tell which section you are in, which thread you are viewing, etc. in invisible mode, other users can not see your online status anywhere on the forums, not even in your personal profile
its a pretty neat stealthy mode

So should I understand that us, paid members, don't get the decals for free, and that we have to become donators in order to get decals?

That said, current groups that CAN be invisible are:
admins
mods
supermods
club admins
paid members (orig paid group - ended Jan 2009)
site donators (started feb 20 2009 - present)
vendors.
While the total members there isn't HUGE. You will be able to see everyone online at all times.
As a paid member you can set yourself to invisible. You are correct that to other paid members (by paid i mean supporters) & staff you are NOT invisible, but to everyone else you are. So, if you donate from here on in, you can see who is invisible and the only people that can see you are staff or other donators
In engrish, what I am try to say is you can see everyone, only staff and people who donated like you just did after feb 20 2009 can see you.

To answer your questions. The old group of "paid members" has less perks, but they did get membership cards. This round of supporters wont get membership cards as they are officially discontinued for now.
We have discussed bringing the cards back ,but if we do it'll be mid '09 and will be for the new donator / subscription system.
Due to the feed back on the card system being less than stellar, it is canned. Until there is a way to hold shops accountable to give discounts to card holders I can't in good conscience sell them. All affiliates are officially out and site sponsors remain. The shops that currently remain (most) have said they will honor the cards still, which is great news.
I would consider it a step up and more inline of where the site is going. Any more perks added will go to the supporters group and staff.
Yes, with the upgrade you will be able to see every member online who has set themselves to invisible. So far for today, about 10+ people have logged on in invisible mode.
PMs.
Regular members have a pm box of 25 allotted to them
The old school paid members have 1000 which is a ton.
The new site supporter system gives you 1200 (overkill forsure )
I hope that answers all of your questions
What has changed to make it like this? Well, the old admin team that you bought your membership card from sold the cards in 2008 (maybe early jan 09) with the promise that shops will offer discounts. Now, some shops do and will, feedback has told me some won't.
As I said above, I cannot sell you a promise as it doesn't sit well with me, yet, TCC still needs the support of its members. And while the group of people who supported the old admin team definitely played a part in this sites growth and brought it to where it is today, I hope they understand that this is a new year, new costs, etc. No one is being forced to upgrade.
There are different perks between the groups, but the paid member group you are a part of is no longer going to be a "supported" group per say. Having 150 people with 'life time' memberships does nothing to support TCC. This is not a deal I created, but it is a deal that I will honor for the duration of '09.

No one has to give up anything. The site is 100% free. A paid member can return to a regular member if need be.
For instance. If you use the new system and for the next 7 months you donate $3.50 / month and then you are leaving the country for a tour or something, you can cancel your $3.50. At the end of the month your account gets reverted.
If you prepay a year, its from the time of purchase.
The old school members will remain 'paid members'. If something changes, worst case scenario is that they become regular members. I am sure not everyone will want to upgrade, I am sure there will be people who don't even frequent the site. But, at this time nothing changes with the group. I will no longer be selling memberships however for the paid group, just supporter group now.
I am not forcing anyone to leave or to pay, the site will remain free.
I will NEVER institute any program or put in place a policy people have to pay to use this site... EVER!

The group will likely remain for now and I think as we get closer I will have a very clear answer as to what is happening.
My goal is to make the new donation / sub system seem more attractive than just being a regular member.

The decals look good.
Changes usually take some time to adapt, but the site has been through a good many changes...this new arrangement is no different, in that sense. It's of benefit that there's open communication, and the new format for subscribing will prove interesting.
