why are you on tcc if you don't have a civic and are buying a mustang? no offense, but when i was this indecisive about what car i wanted i wasn't really ready to own a car.... and i could not have afforded it either.
my buddy has a '70 chevelle and it's cost him about 20 grand just to restore it mechanically and the body is still mad rusted and the interior is pretty gnarly. not to mention it costs the driver $40-50 bux in gas just to go out for a cruise because it consumes so much.
if you aren't into the stang body and soul, you may as well not even bother buying it because you will get pissed off when you realize how much it starts costing you when there's repairs to be done... and for $4500, there are gonna be at LEAST 20 grand worth of repairs waiting for you! GOOD LUCK BUDDY!

it's true, being 17, there is no way you can follow through on that project. also, if that's your only car, good luck. a 39 year old car won't do you many favors in terms of reliability and practicality, not to mention wintertime. and to do that up, like i said in the other thread, $50K easy parts alone.

if you're buying it as a project you might be better with something that is fuel injected. There is so much obsolete technology in that car that you're not going to learn anything useless
its like learning to fix 8 track players.

I think the car will make a great project. If it's old muscle your into, by all means. Don't criticize just because it's not something you would do or enjoy.
I do understand that you need a really think about something like this. It will take a big commitment to do something like this. If you stick with it to the end, it will definitely be worth it.
