Z6 = OBDI, round combustion chambers, 9.2:1 c.r.
Y8 = OBDII, square combustion chambers, 9.6:1 c.r.
The Y8 also has bigger exhaust and intake ports on the cylinder head, and also is equipped with factory knock sensor and crank fluctuation sensor. I don't think the Z6 comes with either of these from factory.
oh yeah, Honda rates the Y8 with 2 more hp over the Z6.

hey, thx for the replies guys. thats a lot of tuning for 1.9hp! but these engines are quite similar right? im guessing most of the same mods would work on both engines. does the Y8 perform noticeably better than the Z6?

Y8 was modeled after the Z6, so yeah they are pretty much the same motor with small differences. OBDII holds the Y8 back a little also.... and believe it or not, Canadian Cylinder Head Technologies recently flow tested the head from each of these motors and the Z6 came out on top... 15 cfm more than the Y8.
So depending on your plans and/or what car you're dropping them into.. there really is no clear "winner" between these 2.
