Shady Dealership? 2007 civic transmission issue
Just picked up a 2007 civic sedan from a Honda dealership. Mostly because they had great finance rates on their used civics and prices were decent.
Anyways we were told that it had 120k or 6year power train with this "Honda certified" stuff. Also a 7 day exchange policy if you are not happy with it.
Car had 65k on it and everything seemed to be fine on it. Good condition drove smooth and all.
A day later the car at weird vibration or shuddering happening once in a while at low speeds. Also on the highway if you let off the gas and then pressed it again it would kick hard into gear and feel like someone was bumping the car from behind.
After going to the dealer and explaining this the manager of used cars took it out for a drive and insisted there was nothing wrong with it at all. He then said but you can bring it in another time and have a service guy check it out ( it was too late and service had closed).
We were going away for a bit so he said to just leave the car there for a week and they would check it out.
After the car being there a FULL WEEK all they did was change 2 tires and said there was some uneven wear that was causing it.
Everyone at the dealer was insisting there was nothing wrong with the car. So I agreed to take the car and said id be right back if the issue happened.
As I pulled out of the lot it happend again (felt like clutch slipping but it is an auto)
Came back and demanded to go for a drive with the manager. Was able to show the problem to him.
So just today he calls me and says they have finally determined it is the torque converter in the transmission. They have ordered the part and want to replace just the torque converter.
I am so angry over how much time I have wasted and such on this.
Now I am worried about if this car was beat on. I am thinking I want them to change out the car. Since I did bring it in with the issue within the original 7days.
Just needed to vent that and see what peoples opinion is on this.

Yes the Torque converter is under warrenty and will be replaced free of charge.
I spoke to the manager today and we wither have the option of keeping that car after they put a new torque converter in.
Or we can select another used car.
Whats everyones opinion?
After the torque converter is changed do you think harm could have been done to other parts of the transmission?
I want to keep it but am just worried that maybe it failed because previous owner did not take care of it.

So any information on whether changing just the torque converter is useful? Or if that means there could be lots of wear on other transmission components which it might be a better idea to just go for another car?

Dude, just get another car. You've talk to me about it and it seems you basically want someone to tell you to get another one...so get another one if you're that worried about if the malfunction of the torque converter is any indication of the possible wear and tear on the motor and transmission. If you have any doubts on the buy, just get another car. There is no point in stressing you out on the what if's of the deal.
