Stolen, Police Recovered Damaged, Now What?

I've never been in this situation before, my baby was stolen last night, i woke up to the cops calling, saying they have it with a trashed pass tire, and scratches to the body on the drivers side. he fled on foot. left his cell, a hat, some screwdrivers.

anyways, now what...who knows how much damage...i dont, they arent giving details, im with state farm, i bought the car for 1700, its a black 90 dx with an si engine they dont know about.

is it gona be a write off? whats the next move when they call, put a spare tire on and drive it to a body shop for estimate? btw i have 500 dollar deductable.

thankfully he didnt have time to jack my system, or anything else..guess he was driving it somewhere...

they said he stole it with the master key? how did he get that, my question is?????? can u get those on the black market, or is it a previous owner??

so what next, besides stop being pissed.

other questions i don't know how to answer

but for masterkey, they are everywhere... if you play around with a lock, you will understand the mechanism of a masterkey.... it doesn't need to be key from a previous owner....... i don't know how to protect myself against masterkeys anyways, plus thefts have tons of ways to break in.... so it doesn't matter if you can protect against masterkeys or not....

i guess you should leave high-end stereo system out of sight...
you need pager alarm with starter disabled and it would notice you immediately when your car is being intruded... if you can afford those high-end stereo, you should get a nice pager too...

just an opinion...

yeah, if there is any body damage, the insurance co will prolly write it off.... or you can not report it and just fix it yourself. Or part it out, and sell me the motor, tranny and axles for cheap... and the pedal cluster. I need a 5 spd swap

well the master key is easy ... think about it exactly how many combinations of bumps can they make for the keys?

according to GM the keys they use are repeated every 10,000 vehicles.... I'd bet honda does the same

its supposidly just "Scratched" on the driver side, i havent seen it yet, and ill need a new rim and tire...and the insur company couldnt give me a estimate of the book value of my car...and curse the 500 deductable!

turns out he ditched a accord behind my building with a flat tire and bumper damage, and then took mine from here...so he was having a lot of fun, but hopefully with all this evidence they can track the bastard down.

i paid around 500 bucks for my audio and its all perfectly hidden, no faceplate on, totally hidden, looks like he just wanted to take the car and then discovered the sub, cause they found a screwdriver in the back. he didnt get a chance to steal anything just scrape it up and mess my wheel.

anyone else have a 4th gen written off? how much are they going for, as far as the insur book value?

i figure they will have to do some patch work and paint, and the rim and tire, not a lot of work really... im just pissed cause the police are holding it for days, then the adjuster will mess around with me, i gota get some crap rental car...least they cover that.

anyone missing a 4dr white accord ex? thats whats sitting in my garage, its a early 90's. the cops confirmed that it had been stolen.

ur gonna get 1000bucks if anything for a dx hatch...dont even claim it...ur gonna pay 500bucks deductable and get pennies back. get it back from police impound and asses the damages and go from there. If there are any dented body panels or broken lights insurance will right it off and ur better off parting it out or selling it to somebody for parts

I got 1800bucks for my 90Si when it was written off and they let me keep the car (I told them off proper to get that)...and I was rear ended so I didnt have to pay a deductable or anything like that. if you make this claim there is a possibility that your premiums will go up so, if I was you I wouldnt claim it

i already have a "Claim" number...so its claimed....a little late here...

my mom said sometimes u can get the adjuster to write u a cheque for the estimated repair [minus 500 bucks] and spend it however i wish. thats what happened on one of our other cars, the headlight was messed in an accident, they gave us 500, dad went to the junkyard for it for 20, and put new tires on the work vehicle..

now that the adjuster is involved can i back out of claiming it to leave rates the same? i could just go to the impound lot, look at the damage and get it towed to my mech or something.

ok im going to pick it up today, drive it with a spare.

so i need you guys help! i need a 14 inch steelie [not badly rusted] the kind with a bunch of little circluar holes in it, not the stock honda with the slot like holes...like a winter tire rim, if they are painted glossy black all the better.

and id like for it to have a 185/60 14R tire with decent-to-good thread, at least to last 2 more seasons.

cheaper the better and SOONER the better, call me at 416-629-5953, thank you very much!

well i have it now, it drives...with the spare.

damage is worse then expected, it ran a bush along the pass side, so its all scratched...the pass side bumper is pushed in from hitting a parking block, fenders scratched. its caved in the driver side behind the door, around the fuel door. he somehow got away with a dinner plate, a bag of boy band cds [not mine], and my mp3 discs, but LEFT his cell phone, charger, 2 mp3/cd players, fm radio, hat, shirt, etc. lol

my audio system is all good, thankfully..and i dont know if its gona be a write off waiting for the adjuster... but i paid 1700 and put 800 into repairs, plus new tires, etc. so state farm says theres no BOOK VALUE, it goes by the condition it was in how much work was done, what i paid, etc. so hopefully...id get enough to put into another car, or get this one repainted, etc.

anyone want to buy a black 90 dx with a SI engine with like 50k[body is 220k] on it? its an AUTO though. theres a little rust about a quarter in the driver side fender, none on the pass side, its black original paint job. interior is basically mint. riding on 3 newly painted black steelies and 1 spare. tint all around. runs perfectly, lots of work done within the year. if u dont want it, what COULD i get for it u think? i dont wana have the hassle of parting it out, i also dont have the room.

the ins company tracks your claims and all the amounts and details.

large claims, multi claims, poor risk, will all lead to higher premiums for you.

just keep an eye on your rates.
