alright, my first thought, vss sensor is ****ed. then, i remembered the ******** who sold me the car like 3yrs ago rewired my check engine light, or so i assume. i am gonna do some rigging later with an LED and some wire direct to my ecu where the CEL should be hooked up and well see if that will work (thanks zeeman for the idea way back). anyway, look at this video and tell me what you think.


heres whats up:

my speedo stopped working after the crazy rain yest. i went in a few huge puddles and the splash guards are gone from underneath. maybe the wiring is shot where the sensor is plugged somehow (doubtful, but big maybe) anyway, it started working later then stopped and i didnt notice. then everytime i stop the car for like 4-6 hrs it will work again for 20-30 seconds then die.

on my way home from work, it started working only when my foot was say 80-90 throttle and if i just held it to cruise say on the highway it would just jump up when my foot was down hard then as soon as i backed off it would go right down. then jump all over if i was maintaining a constant speed.

maybe the vss sensor is on the way out?

ya thats a vss.

 

the rubber piece on my connector for the vss has worn out and if there's a big enough rain storm it gets flooded and it starts to act up like yours. take the connector out and look in it. there's probably a **** load of water in there.

 

When I had my civic, my sir cluster used to do that. It wasn't the VSS in my case, it was the Cluster. I say you swap vss's and then clusters to rule out which one it is.
