why so many civics with new engines

Stock motors aren't expensive also you can't tell if anybody did a swap or no if they swapped to the same motor. Have to ask for paperwork but even so, places like tiger Japanese say their motors are at 40-50xxxkm but that's not always the case since you also can't tell.

my buddy that works at a garage and deals with alot of hondas gets alot of ppl swapping engines because they think their a nascar driver and redline the **** out of their cars daily and blow seals and gaskets and dont bother checking oil levels on a regular basis and let them run bone dry and blow them, if you take care of your car you can easily get 300k out of a honda engine

^^ditto. I beat mine like a red-headed step child but I also maintain it like a bratty princess. ~550,000km on the original d16z6 still will only burn the smallest amount of oil if I run above vtec for extended periods of time. I'm planning on a swap over the winter because I want more power not because I blew my engine.

What? Cheaper (for the independent consumer) to do an engine swap? You can't be serious!
That would be like replacing your entire home central vacuum canister just because your filter is clogged!
Professionally, a base model engine swap (JDM D15b) will cost $850 - $1500 to drop into a Civic / EL. Most of these same garages will replace a timing belt (with tensioner) & water pump for under $250 (including parts); it's vastly less expensive & less difficult (especially as a DIY weekend project). I would suggest that 99% of engines will have maximum 3 (maybe 4) timing belt changes before they're junked or most of the other parts are replaced due to wear & tear (and then the engine's no longer considered original anyhow). But hey, correct me if I'm wrong; then PM to me your engine swap hook-up.

interesting method

that's cuz you wasted your time on a b16, fully built or not you could have done a better engine for the same cost or less. true a built b16 would run circles around the tired old d16z6 in my civic, but it'd lack compared to a b18 or b20 build. not trying to sound like the cats over on superhonda but if your gonna do a swap to make a car faster, you should prolly stuff something better then what was offer from the factory under the hood. prolly good sleeper points tho.

actually no... its because I wasted my money on a civic!
I built the head only so I left open the option to swap the block. Once again thanks for spitting already known information and making anothing thread a b16 vs b18/20
