**** Computers
Well my computer crashed this evening and displayed a NO OPERATING SYSTEM message. So now after recovering my original software it seems as though I have lost everything. There goes 2000songs, tons of pictures, important documents my mom has on here ....2 years of **** on this computer GONE. Computers are ******* bullshit and if it was a virus then I should be able to sue my internet provider as there prividing me a service but cant gurantee a safe system? WTF is this bullshit.
If anyone thinks they could help me try and recover the stuff from my HD let me know cause im praying that it can be restored somehow.

2 years? Thats pretty long for not formatting and stuff. You should back up your important documents every now and then. Altought 2000 songs are quite hard to back up, i would suggest getting another harddrive. And about the virus thing, why would the internet provider be responsible? You are never safe on a computer

IF your internet provider cant gurantee that you wont be getting hacked into etc then they shouldnt be providing a service. I have no idea how my computer got erased but im 99.9% sure it wasnt a virus as I cant download **** on this stupid 56K modem.
I do have all my songs at my dads but I spent like over a year burning RW cd's and transfering them to this computer and now there all gone.

Songs can be replaced man. Just takes a long *** time to d/l them.
As for the internet provider, they won't do **** but laugh at you man. By being on the internet you open yourself up to hackers and viruses. The only way around this is to get good anti-virus software and a firewall.

when your burner likes to stop working halfway through every cd there is no point in even trying.

If you dont take the nessessary precations then when you run into a problem like this theres no one else you can put the blame on. As long as you took the precautions.
I know your pain though, I have run into your situation before but there was no one to blame but me because I neglected to backup my work so I had to let it all go.
Maybe if you sold some of your car audio you could get your burner "fixed" ??

Scarlem, theres little programs you can use for recovering but I doubt they will work. My best bet is taking it to a shop and get every cluster repaired on the drive and recovered. It can be done, but it costs $$$. Not sure how much though, call a few and find out. Might be a couple hundred.

You do know that burners are as cheap as a tank of gas, right?
Oh well, what's done is done.
What I would do, is PM 94EG6HB......he was the one that helped me out when my first compter screwed up, when I accidently pulled out my removable drive with the power on.
I was able to get most of the songs and importanat family pics that were on the HD.....which btw, were not printed out yet.
Thanks Aaron.
He might be able to help you out, and he's cheaper than taking it to a repair center.

dude so your harddrive crashed and then you reinstalled an O/S on that same drive? if you formatted the drive theres going to be nothing left of your old data
I recommend doing what I do .... 2 data drives.... mirror them so that the data on one is the same as the data on the other and they appear as one drive. that way if one of my drives with data goes down I just get a new one and re-mirror them. if the O/S drive with the programs and everything goes down I just get a new one and re-install everything ... no data lost
