yah I never even thought of how easy it would be to get across the water.

But really tho, how does it get that cold for the rushing waters of the falls to freeze? I dont understand...

Thats pretty cool Steve. It could happen, it just has to drop that low in temperature.

Get Gord and Frank to build you a dam first, slower water movement will speed up the process.

if im not mistaking that was 1 of the coldest winters which the falls froze over night and the temperature was really low i rember reading about it somewhere and i dont think its possible for it to happen anytime soon cuz look at this winter the weather is gettin warmer n warmer all cuz global warming it can happen once we hit a ice age lol

Average temperatures have been rising since then so that decreases the likihood of that happening again. More importantly, back then the water flow wasn't modified like it is not. Think about all of the water diverters, inlets, outlets above the falls now that control the amount of water that goes over the falls.

Cool pics though!

All the years I worked in the Falls and it never even came close to freezing. Even with the water folw turned back to its minimum, it would still have to be very far below 0. Lake Ontario doesn't even freeze anymore and it is still compared to the Falls.

I have a bunch of friends that live in the falls, one in specific is a tour guide, he said that chances of it freezing over again with the weather we have been having is slim, but if it does start to get colder again then its possible of course..

he also said something else interesting which is that the falls is actually growing in size and being (I dont know the word he used) but im going to say desinergrated backwards, like little by little its desinegrating the rock and its getting larger and also getting farther and farther back. I forgot the mesurement a year he gave me but I thought that was kind of interesting...

I assumed it was because the water would corrode the rock, but I dont know anything about that stuff.
