some of his older stuff was cool but he's not my cup of tea. I'm in true school (J5, J-Live), concious (Common,De La) and old school stuff. I like content and when some has something different to say that has meaning and a point. Dont get me wrong I love the occasional club anthem but it really needs to be dope and original. I love the gangsta/thug **** to but mainly the older stuff (old mobb deep, nas). the new stuff just isn't pushing the boundaries enough. I
m not hating on commercial stuff I just that that it needs to repesent the culture of hip hop a little more. For example Missy Elliot, she is one of the dopest. shes original in what she does and she always represents the roots of hip hop. She her lyrics arent great but she brings it back to the golden era. Undergorund hip hop definitly has its share of crap to, but in the early 90's cats were making money without the trash in there videos.
just some of my thoughts of an ols school hip hop fan!
