F800 is $1600USD... are you nuts??... F300 is $530USD I don't think I'm that hardcore. I think at the recreational level that I'd be riding at, skill is far more scarce than bicycle capabilities. Case in point... you give an avg 16 year old a Ferrari to drive, will he get better times in the Ferrari or in... say a WRX. Hmmmm prolly just about equal, or even better in the WRX. The Ferrari is too much car for a young driver. Same with bikes. I'd rather not buy something I'll never use fully. I think a $1000 CDN bike is more than enough for me. Another thing is... I think I'd do just fine with a Walmart bike, but I'd never be caught dead on something that's cheap My buddy and I used to ride a bit... he let me use his winter bike (a heavy-*** CCM ICE) and he rode his $1500 GT bike. I kept up all day long... no prob

well, I rode **** bikes for a long time cuz I always figured $2000 for a bike, I could buy an entire CAR for that much... now that money is less of a constraint, I don't mind spending a bit more for a worthwhile bike that I can ride to 100% of it's capability... if I get too good a bike, I'll only ride it to 60% capacity which is a waste of money. I'm just gonna visit a bunch of shops over the next couple of weeks and buy whatever seems to be the best, and gets decent reviews on mtbreview.com

We had this guy that was a biker hardcore at our gym in school. This f00ker leg pressed 700 lbs like it was a walk in the park.

I got bad knees... I squated 6 plates/315lbs for football, and I benched that much. That made me the strongest guy on our field, which is all I was looking for. After that I went more for high power endurance, benching 225 12 times with 3 sets. Now, I do 135 12 times LOL but I'm just starting out agian after almost 2 years off. The mass is still there, but it's not as firm anymore. It'll all be back in about 6 months.

I have always been a part time cyclist since grade school, but never really owned expensive bikes, just some mediocre ones. My current mountain bike was bought 8 years ago. No suspensions, just upgraded *****, seats, and odometer and some other little stuff.

So far, personal record is biked from Brampton to CN Tower and back in one day, just for the kicks LOL. That was like... 100km both way. Not here to brag but it was one helluva ride, totally awesome.

If anyone wants to bike a trail from a starting point, I don't mind meet up at that place and bike for a certain distance. I can mountain bike or do road bike (definitely slower then speed bike). Or, just do a leisure biking around town.

It's just ghetto to roll on a cheap bike... a nice bike is a luxury, not a necessity so a significant amount of money can buy you lots of nice features. It's the difference between a Skyline or a Sentra, except your not paying $80,000, you're paying $2000

At some point, you'll begin to appreciate the finer things in life.

Most bikes that cost that much don't break when and if it's crashed... sure some components may, but, rarely the frame...

as for theft, I wouldn't leave my bikes anywhere they could be stolen, hell, if I have them on a bike rack on my car, I don't even leave them unattended... and also, most bike are covered under house and/or renters insurance...
