Case in point... you give an avg 16 year old a Ferrari to drive, will he get better times in the Ferrari or in... say a WRX. Hmmmm prolly just about equal, or even better in the WRX. The Ferrari is too much car for a young driver. Same with bikes. I'd rather not buy something I'll never use fully. I think a $1000 CDN bike is more than enough for me. Another thing is... I think I'd do just fine with a Walmart bike, but I'd never be caught dead on something that's cheap My buddy and I used to ride a bit... he let me use his winter bike (a heavy-*** CCM ICE) and he rode his $1500 GT bike. I kept up all day long... no prob

You do get what you pay for. Those crappy suspensions on bikes sold by Walmart and C-tire will break on a nice drop. I'm willing to pay more for safety. And secondly those crappy bikes are heavy, have crappy tires, frames that will easily crack and wheels that will bend. Plus, parts that come from the bottom of Shimano's barrel if you're lucky.
for about 800 to 1200 you can get a nice bike that will last longer than your car.

i used to have a 300 ccm bike as well, it is heavy as hell and sux.
my brother is stupid he doesnt believe **** can break from riding the bike
when i go down curbs or on trails the gears will sometimes screw up like it wont change when it should so you would have to adjust the screws,

Can't use that analogy. Take a so-called recreatinal model to a real trail and you'll come home carrying the bike.

I use to race a alot a few summers ago but now i just do the 24hr races (chico,24hr adrenalin) All my buddies don't ride anymore so i'm trying to sell my bike. I also use to manage a bike/snowboard store in ajax. If any of you guy's are looking for stuff i can put a good word in for you there.
