Sauber is now BMW.
Poor Villeneuve, thats all I got to say. I friggin love that guy. Seems like everyone is always out to get him. Put him in a decent car and he can ****in go. If ville is gone next year..I dont even know if I'll watch f1 (maybe...)

this past season was just a BIG BS, its all F'ed up rule clearly made ferrari not win, and that was their intentions when they made these new rules.
i dont know if its just me but i think their sport got hurt by that.

i think its just you
the rule changes made it more competitive.
its not just the rule changes that ****ed ferrari, they ride on **** tires, and the car overall sucked. shumi and barecello (sp?) weren't at their best either, but that can be blamed on the ****ty car.
the rule changes were made to make F1 more competitive, not to **** ferrari. think of it this way, what will get better tv ratings, a league with one team and driver winning 70% of the races or a league that comes down to the last couple of races to see who wins the drivers title or constructors championship?
this was the first full season i watched from beginning to end in like 4 years because i not interested in watching the same team winning every race. its boring. this year though, from beginning to end there was a battle between alonso/renault and kimi/mclaren. was one of the best seasons ive ever seen.
then again you probably don't agree with me. but i expected ferrari fans to bitch and moan this season

i don't think williams owned sauber, but im no expert or F1 historian. williams BMW has only been in F1 for like 3-5 years. not sure exactly
renault used to be beneton

Williams BMW did not buy sauber, BMW ditched williams and bought sauber themselves because williams can't ever come up with a good car while BMW comes up with really good engines. Williams had BMW for 6 years now ever since 1999 i believe. and the rules were made to favour other teams more but ferrari DID dig the whole for themselves by making bridgestone design tires specifically for them and not for anyone else. that's why mclaren left at the end of 2001. now they realize how important it is to have other team developing their tires, they have taken on more teams. i can't wait for next year because there are so many unknown factors. everyone will be starting from scratch because of the engines and some rules hasn't even be proposed yet. there's rumours like tire changing will come back, the old qualifying 12 lap sprint will come back, etc. i just can't wait to hear what the cars sound like at melbourne when they scream at 21000+ rpm.

Mclaren should have won the constructors championship because they have the fastest cars and drivers, especially Kimi. However renault had an overall better package and their cars were VERY reliable so in the end i think they deserved it, not the quickest team always wins.
For next year (so far):
- Williams will have cosworth power
- BMW bought out Sauber
- Honda is also going on it's own
- Jordan becomes midland F1
- Minardi was bought out by red bull
- Red Bull will run a 2nd team
- Barrichello to Honda
- Heidfeld will drive for BMW
- Villeneuve has a 1 year contract left with Sauber (he says it will carry over to BMW)
- Scott Speed and V. Luizzi will drive for th 2nd red bull team
- Pizzonia will probably take Heidfeld's seat at williams
- Rumour has it there is going to be another honda powered team on the grid for next year and Sato will have a seat
- and then obviosly the V8 engines and new qualifying format
thats alot of changes in 1 season...(and its only october)

Here are a couple of things from the the Villeneuve msg board. Apparently some insiders go on there and post and this is one of them...
"Jacques is 100% confident of a seat for next year with BMW...he was surprised that Massa landed the Ferrari drive, it came as a surprise to Sauber/BMW as well. JV is happy for Massa, while they are not friends as he was with Panis, his relationship with Massa is very good.
Saubers technical people have advised BMW to keep JV, it seems the main issue is that MT has a big dislike of Pollock. If it were not for this hurdle JV would have been confirmed months ago. Gossip has it that despite what I said in July, there is no mechanism for a buy-out in Jacques contract. So if BMW decide to drop Jacques, they will be breaking their contract, and would be open to a lawsuit...as of yet there have been no discussion between Pollock and MT/BMW, which may actually be a good thing, as they would most likely try to negotiate a settlement rather than face a lawsuit.
Jacques has spoken to MT and some members of the BMW board, including a brief update on BMW plans for next year.
If BMW decide to break Jacques contract it will come as a big surprise to the Villeneuve camp as they are certainly planning on racing for BMW next year."
I hope JV is back next year and hopefully hes in a competitive car, because he'll kick some ***. BMW will have a great engine and mad cash flow. LOTS of testing.
