Anyone currently in an MBA program or recently finished?
Just wondering what your thoughts are on MBA programs... considering York, U of T, Western or U of Michigan Ross. Perhaps Laurier? Any thoughts? Good experience? Costs? Networking opportunities? Job prospects and salary expectations? I've done some research, but I want to hear it from someone with first hand experience. Quit my job today... don't like the blue collar life.

Aaron, I've been really busy, first building a garage, then I started working... worked like 80-90 hr weeks regularly and partied the rest of the time. Today is my first day of freedom y0.
Jay, it's not necessarily what doors open up... it's a matter of self improvement. The doors that do open up are entirely up to you. It's how you network and self-promote. However, I was not pleased with the doors that were open to me after my undergrad, in fact I was downright insulted with the salary offers I was seeing. I value my time way more than what they were willing to pay. Anyways... MBAs don't come cheap, but heck, the salary improvements look pretty significant on paper. So far the most attractive is the Laurier program, from a cost and time standpoint. It's one solid year for $20K. Others are $40-56K, with the U of Michigan being $40ish USD.

my advice is to go to a recognized school. check the mclean's mag on colleges and universities and what they have to say about the mba programs.
the top schools in ontario and quebec are
queens
uwo - ivey
mcgill
u of t
york u
most of the other universities offer mba programs like laurier, mcmaster, etc. but they aren't as well recognized. you'd be surprised how much school pedrigree goes a long way in getting a good high paying job. for high paying exec jobs, stick with uwo, queens, uot and yu. you pay more, but you'll get more salary in the end.
depending on the program expect to pay 30+k for a regular mba. specialized hi-tech and one-year intensive mbas cost over 40k+ the exceutive mbas are even more $$$.
online mba schools are out there too, but realistically i don't think compare as well as the real on campus schools.
the top schools are in ontario and quebec. canadian mba's are a bargain compared to the US mba programs.
in addition, i think you have to pass the gmat with a pretty good score. i think the only pre-req is an undergrad degree with some work experience.

why MBA??? i was thinking about going back to york and getting a part time MBA at schulich. im am not ruling it out, but it does not seem likely (mostly because i dont know if that is the path i want to take....although an MBA is good for any kind of business...even entrepeneur).
considered a CFA or CA? what do you want to get into?

I was considering getting an MBA.. but I was not sure if it would be worth it for me. I was going to get it at Ryerson only because they allowed me to transfer a lot of credits so I could begin in the 3rd year (THat would save me a lot of money) but then again I thought maybe getting an MBA at Ryerson wouldn't help me much since its not very well recognized.
