to further that..
dont run **** like SSH, FTP, TFTP, TELNET etc tho.. until you know what youre doing and you can optimize it. i.e. changing the ports etc, I usta do a lot of *nix hacking back in the day and those were my favorite to exploit hah, just a lil tip.

I use PCLinuxOS I think it's a great alternative to windows.
