Attn ***ie people!

I've been looking on google trying to research these 2 printers to see if they can produce a colour copy that will bleed.

The 2 printers that we have in-house are:

HP Color LaserJet 5500dtn
Panasonic DP-C354.

Anyone know?

laser printers dont generally bleed since the toner is basically burned into the paper...now ink-jet on the other hand will bleed unless specialized ink or paper is used

^^ that's what i thought but i figured he would know that regular printers can't 'bleed'

you can only 'bleed' properly if you print on sheets bigger than the size you actually want and then cut them down to size like they do in a print house... bleeds are there so when they trim the output if they're off by a little bit you don't have any white space around the edges... you don't see much/any of the bleed on the finished product

any regular printer cannot print all the way to the edges as it needs some space around the edges to pull the paper along..

lol if he had said "can print in colour with bleeds' then i would've had a better idea of what he meant...

it's a limitation of the printers - either go get them outsourced or do what matt said and cut 'em down to size...

(altho you can't compare professional print results to in-house laser colour jobs) they're night and day

yeah i've seen borderless printing but it mostly applies to photo printers (they're all borderless clearly) so i know it's possible...

and usually it's for letter/a4 sizes... i havne't seen a regular office style 'borderless printer' that can handle legal(8 1/2" x 14")/tabloid(11"x17") sized paper... maybe i am just outta touch...
