Am I the only one who feels it is absolutely stupid that builders have to skip numbers for condo floors?

They do it because their target audience is stupid and thinks bad luck numbers on floors mean something.

Since I can remember, 13 was always skipped, now to accommodate a different group of mentally ill who think 4 is a bad number.

1 2 3 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 15 16 17 18.

The fact that you can live on the 18th floor in a 15 story building says something about our society...

It bothers me because people can be stupid enough to think if they live on the labelled as four, chances of them dying go up, or their chances of winning the lotto decrease.

Yeah this is quite stupid. But in a sense if you live on "14th" floor, you know that its the 13th not 14th. Yes it may be labelled as 14 but in the end if you can count to 13, you know the truth.
I absolutely agree with you on this one. Maybe they should just start labelling floors by letters?

the number 4 isnt really a bad luck number. it just sounds like "die" in the chinese (cantonese, not sure bout other dialects) language. it just simply doenst sound the nicest.

Who the hell cares what it sounds in other languages? ah we come back to the same issue that was discussed a while ago, with different cultures coming to canada which must adapt to the society here.
anyways i guess there is just no pleasing people. thats why i live in a house :S

house exposure is important though...nobody wants the sun beating in the windows certain times of the day...like my house fronts to the west so I get no blazing sun in the morning to wake me up or roast me in bed

Agreed. Someone should build a condo with ALL the proper numbers. I would live in it.

I think I got my condo cheaper than it should have been because the unit number ends in 13.

When I lived in a condo, the unit number was 913. It was a pain to sell it cuz people were not interested just because of the unit #. Ahh idiots...
