If you don't get it back in a day or two you can go into the branch and fill out a form saying you made a mistake at the machine. I wouldn't worry thought cause i made a mistake of shorting myself 1,000 cash on a deposit and it was fixed in the next 24 hours.

The only way you won't get service charges is if you work for the bank or if you are an old fart heh

when the envelopes get processed they will make the necessary adjustments, in addition (just so you'll feel safe) they wont think its fraud because you punched in a lower amount than u actually deposited. but yea, everything is done automatically so dont fret it. just keep your receipt just in case.. and about pocketing the cash.. they wont do that.. all envelopes are opened by two cash officers. atleast thats how we do it at RBC..

Both CIBC and TD have chequing accounts that will waive all service charges if you maintain a balance of at least $1000 at all times.

Kevin, if you invest $1000 for one year at 5% elsewhere, you get $50 at the end of the year... that's over 12 months $4.16 in interest.... soooooo, you are giving up the possibility to make $4.16 monthly by leaving the money with the bank... however, it ALL charges are waived and you do a lot of banking, that's a pretty good deal.

it depends on a lot of variables......bmo (where i work) offers like 30 different kids of gics......and yours might be locked in for one year.

generally gic's aren't normally something ppl our age do

I easily accumulate over $5 per month in service charges.
