Banning Handguns

So the liberals are proposing a ban on handguns.

whats people's take on this?

personally i think this is super retarded.
because the guns that are on the streets are all smuggled in not bought from stores so banning handguns wont do **** if anything it will increase the market price therefore more smuggling across the boarder.

however they should put a mandatory minimum 6 year in prision sentance for carrying a handgun that is not registered.

but then again if they ban all handguns people wont be able to register them either.
imo that is a good idea because there is no need for people to be carrying guns. if you wanna hunt sure go ahead but use some other form of weapon like our natives did with bows and arrows n spears.

Yes they should ban guns. So many stories of kids finding the parents guns around the house that are not securly locked. Some of these incidents resulted in a fatal ending.

ban that ****

like people that has hand guns for personal protection or those security guards that carries them legally they should be allowed to carry them instead of banning them. my uncle has a registered gun for protection...but he doesn't show it off. i've been in canada for 8 years and i still haven't seen him show it to me...

isnt that what the whole deal is about.
you dont need guns if there aint guns to shoot with it the first place.

Personal protection with a gun when a stranger is knocking at your house with a knife?

fight fire with fire
not guns with knifes.

imo everyone should get their guns removed.
and hopefully one day even police officers will carry sticks only or tasers.

i agree that they should not be banned.

however there should be a HUGE penalty for posession of an illegal gun. I agree with a minimum of 6 years because no one really NEEDS a gun and if they do, then it wont be hard to get a license.

banning guns period isnt fair IMO. there are lots of people who use them for recreational purposes, and that'll just be one less freedom we have

personally, i hope this does not happen, i dont want to lose my gun. i am very careful with it and it is well protected and is not a danger to anyone.

if they do end up banning handguns you can always go and get AK47's, Uzi's etc....since they dont fall under handguns

handguns are legitly used for target shooting, so banning them will only hurt those who have registered them. However, sounds good eh, as prime minister i will ban handguns.

there are already tight restriction since handguns are restricted firearms. they tell you 2 routes you can use to take the gun to a range, the gun must be stores seperate then the ammo and a trigger lock should ideally be used too.

ban them all you want, $200-$300 will buy one in the US EASILY! its the laws that need to change, but its easy votes for him saying i will ban them, people don't understand that the guys with ****in machine guns didn't buy them at a store, dumb ****s

as alwaysoverkill stated,
handguns are legally only for target shooting
not "personal protection"

not to single you out.
but your statement actually brings up a real good point.

its people like you that say oh dont ban guns cuz you didnt do **** but its the same people that then say oh gun crime this and gun crime that and how the city or country is going to **** because of it...

make up your damn minds people.

you want guns off the streets? give equal rights to everyone.
so what if you have your gun registered? it is still a metal object used by a biological being. and it still doesnt change the fact that if you wanted to kill someone you still can. registered is just telling me if you were to shoot someone it would be easier to find you thats all it doesnt mean anything else and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to change the characteristics of a gun ie. bullet markings etc.....

i like the 6 year minimum and agree to that. The liberals proposed a new 2 year minimum sentence for gun crimes but the problem i see with this is even though there is a minimum sentence, the courts will STILL be lenient to the criminal (like always)..minimum sentence or not, they will be off the hook and back on the streets in no time.

As for banning the guns...well...i've never seen a need for a gun in a home. I think they should be restricted to the army and police. Though banning them wont solve the gun crime problem in toronto at all since they're all illegal and not registered anyway.

look at it like this: Pot is illegal (banned), how hard is it to come by? ha, liberals are going to have to do better to please me.
