baseball fans, its Opening Day

okay the 3 of you on tcc...LOL

its opening day!

predictions for the 2006 baseball season?
and your thoughts on the new and improved Toronto Blue Jays

btw...when you flame this thread...at least make a prediction LOL

AL EAST- Yanks
AL Central-Twins
AL West- Angels

NL East- Mets
NL Central-Cardinals
NL West- Padres

Yankees and Padres in the world series, with yankees winning.
I also think the new Jays will finish 2nd in the AL east, but the wildcard will either go to the White Sox or the A's, not to say the Jays dont' have a shot, its just that chi-town and oakland have great teams already....

THe Jays need both Halliday and Burnett to stay healthy in order to win... just having 1 or the other to anchor the rotation wont put them ahead.

i am excited to see how the Jays do, its a team that was 5 years in teh making after cutting contracts and budgeting, we now have a legitamate shot at the playoffs.

but the yanks .. wow their pitching stinks but that batting lineup is sure scary as hell....

I said 3 years ago, its gonna take the Jays about 3-4 years to get them back on track. I think they are going to be phenominal this year.

My only concerns with the jays is how Aaron hill does @ 2nd base. Losing Hudson IMO hurt the defence but Hill does have potential, along side adams at SS.

I can't wait to see hinske in the outfield...that should be interesting, but competing with Rios should bring out the best of both. I know i said that the yankees lineup was intimidating but have a look at what the projected blue jay lineup is.....and that can be pretty scary too. Especially when 1,2 8&9 are quick base runners....

3. Lyle Overbay - 1B
4. Troy Glaus - 3B
5. Vernon Wells - CF
6. Shea Hillenbrand - DH
7. Bengie Molina - C

There are many keys to success for the jays this year, but unfortunately they're gonna finsh behind both the yanks and the sox.

P.S. As long as we have no Eric Hinske playing this year its gonna be a huge plus

I think we're going to take 2nd place in the AL East. Red Sox are shadows of their World Series caliber. We seem to have three strong pitchers, in Chacin, Halliday and Burnett. If Lily can keep his ERA down and our bats come alive then we'll be contenders. Lack of run support has killed Toronto's chances at wild card or top spot especially after big hitters like Shawn Green and Delgado left. Somebody should tell Hinske to wake da **** up and swing for the fences.

I think JP's gonna be looking to trade hinske up til the trad deadline. I don't wanna jinx the jays by predicting big things. On paper they look like they can compete against the best teams in the MLB but I think its gonna be all about team chemistry. It's like last year they played better than the looked on paper due to the team's chemistry and some great pitching by towers, lily and the GOOSE chacin.

I gave up free VIP tickets to this Thurday's game. I don't feel like driving home from Toronto on a work night and fighting traffic. Always liked the Jays though. Back in the day with Guzman and Hanke.

not only hinske but IMO rios and hillenbrand are also in that same situation.

hillenbrand wants to play, but from what i hear will be the teams primary DH....he doesnt want that.

Rios has great upside, but if hinske produces more at the plate...i think that Rios could very well be trade bait.

oh well...GO JAYS

The Jays did well to improve the team during the off season. I as well think we will finish a strong 3rd in the AL East but it may be close, we still have a shot at the Wild Card but its a long shot in my opinion. Yes we improved, but NY and Boston are still better since we only technically improved on paper so without team chemistry it doesn't mean that much.

The Red Sox have lost a fair bit. Johnny Damon, Pedro, Bronson Arroyo are all gone.

Man it was a great game, I actually thought it was exciting to watch for once. Roy pitched a great game, and all the newbies played prety good, except for the infield errors. It's opening day though so its expected.
