Becoming a Diver

Becoming a Diver
I want to become certified and become a diver. My question is, how many classes must I take, and how expensive will it be. Also is there a final test to write at the end in order to become certified?

Commercial diving isn't a cheap program. Seneca King has the best course in Canada for it apparently. Expect to spend over 10 grand for the course, materials; less than one year long. Also must have your diving certificate to take the course. This can be obtained from any diving school within a month or two for between $500-$1000 depending on what you choose. Check the yellow pages for the dive schools.
I was looking at getting into it, and underwater welding, but your lifespan in the career is very short, which is why they get payed so well. 5-7 years and you'll have to move onto something else.

padi isn't too hard.. for beginners course.. just a full weekend and a test in the pool.. then you gotta go do one test in open water.. and you can then rent equipment etc.
it's pretty fun.. anywhere in canada kind of sucks i believe... but you can do your padi here... then go off on vacation and go diving to a bunch of places pretty cheap..
