I might have my builder do some real simple/basic 5.1 wiring in the den of my new home just to keep it clean and un-cluttered. When the basement gets finished later on, I'll do the pimp home theatre system then.

Since its not In-wall be extra careful running the wire, and use protection at corners etc. Should have spent the extra $$ for inwall CL-2 rated.

what? the wire is setup behind the drywall (well a mix of boards and drywall). the only issue im having right now is that on one side, i have a gap of around 7 feet b/w the front and back wall (the area will be covered by carpet) so i am thinking how safe it would be to run the wire under the carpet? any suggestions?

btw...what do you sell? home theatre equipment?

under carpet is fine. You will just get a bump and over years may cause the carpet to wear unevenly there

I know your running it behind the wall, thats why I suggested the wire in my previous thread, it is meant to be run in behind the drywall in a rough in state, unlike conventional speaker wire. You will never see anyone in the home automation or HT business run regular wire behind the wall, too many headaches.

I would never run under the carpet, to much potential for failure from being rubbed when people walk over it. At very least i would take off the moulding and notch out the drywall and run it in there.

our company is www.ccssecurity.ca

if u are gonna run it under the carpet...run it under the underpad and then duct tape it to the concrete to keep it in place...its kinda ghetto but will work fine.
