Best way to quit Smoking?

*I've search, but couldnt find what i was looking for*

i'm thinking of quiting smoking, i've been a smoker for 3 years, and its just getting too expensive for me. I just got back from Croatia where cigarettes are $2 a pack!!!!! And i just ran out of the 2 cartons i brought back with me. Just wondering whats the best thing to use? Gum, patch, etc? And how long will i have to use that stuff? I did quit one time cold turkey for 2 months with no problems, but now, everytime i sit in my car, i have to light up. Its not really for the craving, i just love the act. Its like it feels borning in the car if i dont smoke, does anyone know a trick to kick this "Smoking cause im bored" habbit? do i need to strap elastic bands around my fingers, lol. Someone suggested smoking cigars so then i cant inhale, i tired that and lets just say i inhaled the whole cigar!

go to the ontario science center and look at that dead body exposition with a smoker's lung and heart.

the ONLY way to quit is cold turkey

chew lots of gum, eat lots of snacks, hold a pen between ur fingers.
do stuff like that to get out of the habit, but for the actual addiction cold turkey is the only way.

oh and avoid standing around smokers or things that u associate with smoking.

i know people who just sucked on a lolli-pop everytime they wanted a ciggarette, also a tooth pick should work fine. I've been trying to quit for the last couple of months, I'm down to about 3 a day. Man.. i want a ciggarette. it's tough. Goodluck.

thanks guys, i have 1 cigarette left in my pack, i'm gonna see how long i can go before i make a trip to the convenience store. But i would still like to get the gum, just so i can wean off the nicotein. What do you recomend, Nicorette, Nicoderm, or are they all pretty much the same.
So is it really true that you gain weight after quiting? Is that just cause you eat more or does it affect your metabolism or somehting like that?. i'm already 220 and dont need any more pounds.

well there is the mental aspect of smoking that affects you too.. but I think the nicotine is more powerful then the mental part of smoking.

And to answer euro_civic's question. You will gain weight, because smoking gives you a lose of appetite (well atleast that's what I heard) Also when you quit smoking you tend to eat way more and try to shove as many things into your mouth as possible to stop the urge. So i say, yes you will gain some weight.
