a guy who doesn't like spending money for 'dinner' at mcDonalds, is not gonna spend $3000 to get a credit card.

nothing you will get is really impressive to anyone over 16 with a brain.

for all cards generally issued to normal people, you only need to have a minimum limit of 5k.

i got a platinum dividend card which normally won't do ish, but since i buy stuff for work all the time, and put 10 people's vacations on it, i've racked up some points. i'm at $280 now that they will send my way in december. not bad... basically a free weekend in mtl.

BENIFITS OF THE CARD: (sounds pretty cool, especially the private shopping part )

How to get the Amex Black Card with features and benefits summary
The card referred to as the Amex Black Card (American Express Black Card) is actually the black colored Centurion Card from American Express. The Centurion Card is renowned as the most prestigious, exclusive and respected Card in the world. Amex Black has been designed for individuals who travel frequently, entertain often and value single points of contact for service.

How do you get the Amex Black Card? The Centurion Black Card is an invitation only card that is offered to selected Amex Platinum Card members only so you must start by having an American Express Platinum Card. Since this card is only offered to selected Platinum Card members, please see the Amex Platinum card details at American Express as a prerequisite.

What are some of the features of the Amex Black Card? The Centurion card gives customers all the benefits and rewards received with the Platinum Card, plus numerous additional travel, lifestyle and financial services benefits:

Centurion members are eligible for enrollment and upgrades in the elite tiers of several airline frequent flier, hotel guest and car rental programs, without the mileage requirements usually needed to join, including:

Upgrades to the Concorde at no additional cost with the purchase of a full-fare, first-class transatlantic ticket to or from London and any British Airways gateway in the United States.

Complimentary upgrades, dedicated check-in, priority boarding and mileage earning at an accelerated rate via complimentary enrollment in serveral major airline programs as well as complimentary access to the airport clubs of Continental, Northwest and TWA airlines when flying those airlines.

Room upgrades, late checkout, complimentary use of fitness centers and complimentary international cellular phones, which will be delivered directly to Centurion Cardmembers, who pay only the cost of the calls.

Personal travel counselors to handle all travel needs, and help with anything from special occasion planning and selecting ideal gifts, to locating unusual items.

Fee-free enrollment in American Express Membership Rewards programs. This includes redemption of points for travel on any airline anywhere in the world, and for purchases charged on the American Express Card. Fifty percent Membership Rewards point bonus on all charges made with Centurion partners.

Complimentary two-hour consultation with Provident Financial Management, a subsidiary of American Express Tax and Business Services, which specializes in planning for high-net-worth individuals, including industry leaders and celebrities.

A 25 percent reduction in the management fee for investments and a reduced minimum investment requirement at Portfolio Management Group, a division of American Express Asset Management Group at American Express Financial Advisors.

just get a gold visa linked to your bank account and that should be sufficient. gold visas have quite a bit of related perks and good insurance coverage.
