brokeback movies

okay, i understand why women ask men to watch stupid boring chick flicks with them.

it's the same reason why men sometimes ask their girlfriends to watch stop violent, plotless gory action flicks with 2-dimensional characters.

we're hoping to show them what a good movie is.

my woman also tries to get me to watch foreign flicks, but i don't want to read for 2 hours. i saw Run Lola Run, but only after I found a dubbed verison.

anyway, what's the deal with chicks trying to get their men to watch brokeback mountain with them.

honestly, i don't care what people do for fun, and how they live their lives. i personally have nothing against that movie being made and put out there in theatres.

at the same time, i know two things about the movie

1. donnie darko is a gay cowboy with a boyfriend
2. i have zero interest in seeing it.

i have three friends now whose wives/GFs went out and rented brokeback mountain. one of the three watched it.

my friends parents watched it, his dad really hates gay people (old school ignorance) and his dad apparantly liked it.

i asked the three ladies who wanted their men to watch brokeback how they felt about watching an all lesbian **** with their men.. and apparantly they not only had no interest, but they wouldn't sit through it, at least not attentively.

-there is no plot
-there is no character development

these arguments comparing brokeback and all lesbian **** hold no water.... there are a lot of excellent movies that have the same criteria... any dolph lundgreen movie, any action movie with The Rock.. i could name a lot of other action movies..

ladies, leave us alone, if you want to watch brokeback, go do it on your own time!

Donnie Darko was good as was Run Lola Run, I really don't see Brokeback as a chick flick although it seems to be it's target audience.
You gotta train your woman early on so if they want to watch the Notebook with you, they have to watch Romper Stomper and maybe Truth or Consequences N.M. with you

romper stomper!

i was expecting more from that one.

yeah, my gf knows not to bother asking me about chick flicks.

everytime anyone mentions one, i go off about the english patient, so she doesn't talk about anything i'll call a chickflick.

she once recommended something i looked up reviews "an emotional rollercoaster" i stopped reading and said i wasn't going. then complained about the english patient.

i seriously don't understand how the **** anyone enjoyed that stupid movie. it had nothing to it. honestly, it made ghost dog look like it had amazing dialogue and a well thought out storyline with a deep understanding of all the characters.

people who liked the english patient are the people who ruin canada.

Romper Stomper would have been "more" if it was made today... but come on...low budget, early 80's.

also I htough of another one...Suburbia with Flea, that's a kickass flick

and Ghost Dog had it's moments, just kind of a cool movie that i've seen( but once is enough)

ghost dog had a few moments that were funny but only cause they were so bad.

-the 'mob' was the worst mob ever on film, even including satire movies
-an elite assassin is not some obese guy

yes, the fact that you actually had to sit in front of it shows you are well trained.

hard to train when one has A.D.D...

sad to say though, she got A. D. D. on the action flicks as well...

as for parlez vous, now that's the life...
