Building rubber band powered car... need help
For my physics course, I need to build a rubber band powered car delivering an egg unharmed. I have done some online research and found some help.
I know I need a high gear ratio (big wheels, width = ?), bearings, plastic/brass axel. Any more advice? This is aimed for distance.
Thanks all, I will definately slam the cart leaving only 1 cm of clearance and maybe put white led headlights for fun Can't forget a big wing!!
BTW its on Carpet and I need to pass at least 5 meters.

It's all about stabability, make sure everythings alligned, make sure the battery is centered and you have to have everything perfect, you can't have too much weight on one side, every corner and cut must be equal and weigh the same. If it's about distance and not a time thing then don't worry about making it lightweigh, make it strong so the object doesen't break it. BTW How are you designing it? autocad? and what is it going to be made out of?

No rules, no need for aided designs. Not sure what to make it out of, most likely acrylic (hows that for strongness?). It's has to be slammed not sure on the wideness of the wheels. I gotta get some ball bearings from a R/C shop. Should I keep the rice lights or ditch the idea.

Balsa wood, its super light they make r/c airplanes out of it. get grippy tires off an on road r/c car, if its on carpet try getting ones with spikes theyll grip better.
If you wanna use lights get lightweight batteries like lithium ion cells used for watches in the correct voltage.
