i dont belive that the gov. can do this....elimanate the breed like this....i found this wronge (toronto star) Puppies that are born in Ontario before Nov. 27 will also be allowed to stay on a restricted basis, but dogs born after that date must be shipped out of the province, sent to a research facility or euthanized......if they can do this....what is next

unfortunately, the canadian laws and freedoms do not extend to dogs. do you think we should send the dogs to dog prison? or maybe we should conduct some sort of counselling for the dogs; you know, ask them why they are so mad.

when a human commits a crime, we can send them to trial and then jail. since we cannot do that with dogs, there has to be another solution.

how about this idea: if a dog mauls a person, the police arrest the owner for the crime. if the dog mauls a kid, they charge the owner with aggrevated assult. same for murder. does that sound better?

we are humans...they are animals.

maybe so but guns have to be shot by someone (a human).

as for bombs in iraq, that has nothing to do with pitbulls. the mayor has no control over those bombs, but he can do something about kids getting mauled here in toronto by dogs.

its not like they are banning ALL DOGS; just one breed.

like cynical said its all in the owners... most people probably train them to be attack type dogs cause of what the name pitpull means to them... but certainly not every pitpull is the devil and going to murder someone.. my uncle has one now who's like an angel.

whats sad though is that when i dog does attack, while the owner should be punished the damage is already done to the dog... it wont know any other way of living and is put down.

youre right about 99% of the dogs being seemingly harmless. however, and the sad thing about when dogs attack is NOT when the dog dies. its when the little kid needs 14 surgeries to put his face back together

both are equally sad... dogs are often members of the family... removing all pitpulls from society wont stop every dog attack either so its just a failed attempt at public safety.. like the gun regestry...

i have a pitbull, a american stafford, actually, he's laying right next to my feet at this moment, and all the **** they say about being vicious and agressive dogs, BS. You couldn't imagine a better friend yourself, these dogs a very kind and good, would never hurt somebody without a reason. They even get along with children, 2 weeks ago, my older sister was on vacation here with us from england , with her 2 little daughters, well, they loved him, they played with him every day, without having 1 little incident or something else. It's the owner that makes his pet agressive. There is a list on the internet which proves pitbulls and pitbull-species are not really agressive. they are standing 4th on the bottom of the list, and guess who's on nr 1 and 2, Labrador and Cocker Spaniel. So don't give me that BS, about agressive dogs, again, it's the owner that makes the animal agressive. Before Zip, my stafford i have now, i owned 2 other stafford, a english stafford, and a american stafford, never had a problem with them. Most of the time, when i take my dog for a walk, i don't put on his muzzle, cause he hates it, but normally it's obligated that all 'dangerous dogs' have to be muzzled in public, but **** that law, i know my dog won't hurt somebody, that's what they call, having full control over your pet.

there was a big thing in the paper that this savvage pitbull killed this baby bla bla bla the dun had this pick of a fighting pitbull on the front and PITBULL KILLS BABY buit if u know the story some stupid ignorant parents left the baby on a coutch and left the room it was a very new baby and the dog simply crawled on the coutch and curled up and the baby sufacated because the dog was leaning on it !!!!!!!!!

i knew nothing of the bread and i started dating my gf who is a vet and she went 2 collage they got this pitbull in it was starving it had been shot and beatin and used as a puppy mill in a total mess so they took it in and it hated men they couldent go near it it was growling and barking


so she gets the dog and gets it 2 realise that people arnt bad any more that she wil have a good life now and now the dog is a big softey licks and kisses thats all u hear now it obeys every comany its loyal and wouldent hurt a thing

she takes the dog 2 kindergarded classes and all the kids play with it pull ears and pole eyes and all that kid stuff and the dog just lets them do it

I've hated dogs all my life, not just pitbulls. But I dont think anyone should leave their kid alone with ANY dog, let a lone a pitbull...dogs are unpredictable.

It would be interesting to see when the owners do have to give them up what dog they get next (if they do). Because #1 reason I've seen people get them around here are for "protection"...protection from what I dont know.

yes this is the point guy if the owner trained the dog in the first place and had it on a leash like the law allready states 4 all dogs unless in an ofleash park then it is his fault!!!!
