paul maurice is an awesome coach and has done a wicked job with the marlies (and with some hurricanes players in the past)
its time for maurice to move in! jfj definitly made MANY stupid moves off season (and recently signing kilger!), but quinn needed to go. all i can say is
quinn has let sundin deteriorate. gauranteed if sundin leaves, he will be an all star again, simply cuz any other coach will not let him play with loser line mates like kilger, hogland...etc.
leafs need a legitmate goal scorer/playmaker to play with sundin.
...domi NEEDS to go next.

He's tough, can put the puck in the net, and can kill penalties. He shouldn't be playing with Sundin, though, but that's not his fault.

after one season not making the playoffs seems like the jsk si the only person on here that gets it

You know it's bound to happen. No coaching job is ever safe no matter what your record history is like. Just because you miss a playoff for the first time in a long time doesn't mean it's particularly pointing fingers to a specific individual. But that's the way the NHL or any other professional sports teams out there. If this is a trend, will we see the other 13 NHL teams that didn't make the playoffs firing their coaches as well? I think not!
PS. I hope Quinn goes to a good contender for next year and win the cup. That will shut the current Leafs organization up for good!!!

Quinn was a great coach with the older style where dump and chase actually worked. The new rules don't fit with Quinns style of play and he hasn't adapted. Good move for the Leafs in my opinion but as everyone else said, the Leafs will be in the gutter for a few years or maybe barely hanging on to 7th or 8th playoff spots if were lucky.

look at hogland, back in the day. sundin is that amazing of a player and can make anyone look good.
kilger has missed so many easy goals this season. thats just my opinion.
the core of the problem starts with management namely peddie and tenenbaum. those bums really need to go.

Oh well..I liked quinn..but I guess they needed some new scenery.
Also, Canada sucking isn't the only factor involved with no NFL team. Besides, if you loved american football so much...you would drive down to hurtsack buffalo and watch the bills. Or hell, why not even see an argos game. football is football, 10 second plays...40 hours of commercials....YA!

JFJ is pinning the season on Quinn and blaming him.
JFJ has been trying to get rid of Quinn for ever since he's joined MLSE 3 years ago.
During the press conference, JFJ said that this is a results based business and that Quinn wasn't getting results.
Then when asked why the Leafs started winning when JFJ's players weren't in the line up, JFJ defended his players namely allison who had 60 pts in 66 games but was also -16. But also he went on to say that the Leafs had a 26 team record of 26 wins at home.
Seem like Ferguson is a sly fish

How is that a stupid move? he had his chance, I liked him and all, but now they need to move on and find a younger coach to keep up with the times...what old school coach has won the cup besides scotty bowman...
oh well, hope for the best

It was his time to go. I mean, when you start putting Belak and Berg on the same Defensive line, something is wrong there.
Why not just put a couple of pylons on the ice to stop the other team? They might have a better chance of stopping the puck.
