Canada Army Reserve
Does anyone know any friends or have any experience in the army reserve?
I know that for sure you will not be drafted to war unless you volunteer so basically you have nothing to worry about, if you were to go into the real army you would be training non stop everyday.
Anyways I want to know more information, I want to do it 2 months in the summer, the pay is good, and the experience would be very good as well. disicipline for yourself and get buff lol.

I'd done a bit with the canadian military and it's well worth it.
The pay is great, the knowledge you get it very amazing and knowing how to operate a c7a1 rifle, and other military goodies is awesome.
Depending on what "profession" you choose you can go allover canada to training bases and spend your summer being trained.
The main 4 weeks will be dedicated to taking you a civilian and making you into something the canadian army can call a soldier. You don't need to be built, huge or some macho guy...only thing you need with you is common sence, motivation, and endurance.
Make sure when you go away you become "grey" where you dont stick out to everybody and your not too quiet.
If you have any other questions feel free to PM me...
There is another guy I know on here named Kim with the teal EF civic and he's in the military doing well in it

I'm pretty sure that if the Military needed you...they can call up the reserve at any point. That's why they are called THE RESERVE. Don't be fooled thinking that they can't force you to do stuf... because they can. Heck, they can force any Canadian to fight if they wanted to. I point to the Conscription Crisis of 1917, 1942 as examples.

In Canada we don't really have a conscription contingency. If you were in the reserve(army), your unit CAN be called on to deploy if needed. More often than not, deployments are on a voluntary basis for reserves and even then, you would have to go through a deployment readiness routine to determine if you were able to be deployed.
Military life has it's good points and bad points like any other job. The job security is, however, first rate. You would have to be a total thud to get released.
As far as being in the army before you join the reserve, totally false. The majority of reserves join on a 1 night a week and 1 or 2 week-ends a month basis(depending on unit). You can also count on your summers being training on a pretty much full time basis. so the money's not bad.........if you can handle the mind games and authouritative bull s#!t that goes along with it.

the name reserve doesn't mean volenteer it means your there when the country needs you. if for example Canada was to be invaded by a foreign power the military can (and probably will) call up all troops to the front lines... you'll be ordered not asked.
of course I highly doubt Canada would be invaded although with our massive resources and the resource shortages in the rest of the world it looks likely that it could happen... maybe I should be enlisting then...

same thing here....
and really REALLY make sure you become "grey" or else you'll end up being the Sgt's "pet project" for the summer..... basicly the Sgts will make and exapmle out of you for the rest of the Platoon.... or whatever .... depends on what element you're going into (Air, Army, Navy).
I'm not in the Reserves anymore... but I have a lot of friends still in it.... if any questions you can Pm me.
and don't worry you won't get drafted...

I'd never fight for any country. Call me an *******, but my life is more important to me than that. I have so many friends and family that waist 3 years of their life in the army back in Israel, and in the end have nothing to show for it, which makes them resent their own home.
It is necessary, but I just can't see through the negatives of being in that kind of system.

I joined the reserve first before I made the leap over to the regular forces.
I know with the reserves if you don't like it you can quit at any time. With the Regular force I think it's 6 months notice for breaking a contract.
