I've never heard of someone smoking a lot of cigarettes and been classified as intoxicated (someone please feel free to prove me wrong)...

Although, since you mentioned alcohol, smoking ANYTHING should be considered far worse for society...

If you smoke (anything), second hand smoke affects those around you not participating in the activity (even if you try to smoke down wind or whatever), where as drinking, I've never hard of someone getting 'second hand drunk', in other words, you can't affect bystanders around you with drinking. Sure there are indirect things (drinking and driving, fights, etc), but there is no direct connections...

^^when I said cigs are still legal, I was talkin about the second hand part and also the health factor, not the intoxicated part, however, I don't smoke cigs and if someone put's batch in a splif on me I get very light headed and feel higher for a very short time, and usually get more of a stoned over, bunt feeling the next day.

But of course this brings up the debate on why alcohol & tobbaco are not outlawed. Because the taxes make a lot of money for the government.

I'm in favour of the smoking bans, and the are not real bans anyhow, you can still smoke on an uncovered patio. Now the new laws about smoking with children in cars, although totally unenforcable, are hopefull getting the point across about smoking near children.
