cedar v.s spruce

cedar v.s spruce

what do you like better an acoustic guitar with a cedar top or a spruce top and what guitar do you have ?

this question took me so off guard....but ok, i'm not actually sure which is better, not into acoustic.

spruce is traditionally better as it is lighter in density and has a more vibrant tone. I have 2 acoustics, both with spruce tops, and i love the way the sound. cedar may have a nice look to it though, as it will be darker.

it all depends on how you play, if you dont plug the guitar in, then i would definetly get spruce, if you mike it up or use a piezo transducer, then spruce as well, as it will get sweet high tones.

if you use a magnetic pickup, then it doesnt really matter, go for looks in that case.
