how long have you been under contract so far?
if you upgrade there is usually a fee.

and as for buying a phone you will have to pay full price regardless..

yea u gotta pay full pricefor the phone.. if u started ur new contract within the last 30 days or so and didnt get a new phone then at that time.. cancel your plan.. say you wenrt satisfied.. then call again and say you want a new plann then ask for the deals with the phones.. the bell razr is a piece of ****.. the e815 is a bit bulky buts its good.. oh if u do this.. you will have to change your #

reason number one why bell/telus blows...overpriced crappy phones...come to the gsm side and change phones at will

I believe with CDMA you would keep the same number and account, they would just activate your account on a different phone (the phone has an ID number I believe)....as cynikal said, not nearly as easy as sim card swapping on GSM....

you can purchase a bell phone from somebody else (ur gonna wanna make sure the imei number isnt black flagged though) bring it to bellworld or whatever and have them transfer the imei to your account, usually a $35-$50 fee to do so...your number is now registered to your new phone and now u will have to transfer all your contacts to the new phone, if ur lucky you can bluetooth them over or use a backup and data cable otherwise, have fun typing all that information back in.

but like I said, when buying a used cdma phone make sure its not stolen or imei number is black flagged because then they wont activate it for you

cheers

not really, all u have to do is unlock the phone (if it isnt unlocked) and pop in your sim card and your good to go ... whereas with telus and bell (cdma providers), if a client loses a phone that can call customer service and flag their esn # ... that way if someone finds the phone and tries to activate it, you cant ... also, bell/telus employees are supposed to confiscate a phone if the esn has been reported lost or stolen and then contact the previous owner of the phone (via customer service) to return the phone to the previous owner ...

ya thats what i've heard, also I don't think the networks coordinate thier blocking to each other(not that it matters in canada with only 1 GSM provider),

Why don't you negotiate to get another 3 years providing you get to upgrage your phone. You are due to resign your contract anyways if you have done 2 of the three years. I have done this before, if they don't want you to leave, they will give you the phone at a discount as if you were a new customer to keep you and you can get the phone. If they don't agree, just threaten to walk when your contract is done.

When bringing in your phone to bell after 2 years of your 3 year contract they give you $150 towards another phone (new) if you sign another 3 year contract or something, I know that they give you this $150 but Im not sure if its to sign again or whatever.

Go to your local bell world and talk to them. IT shouldn't be a problem

Oh and happy Early Birthday
