hey where can i get a cheap 40 gb or better/ whats the best hd out there cause my last compaq one fryed

Seagate HD's are pretty quiet. About $100 and change new.

because i need to settle down on buy stuff for my car

Try and avoid Western Digital and Fujitsu...

Seagate Barracuda ATA IV drives are the ****...

At least for IDE folk's...

i have maxtor and i don't find any problems with it, they work farely good. I payed $100 for it but it's a 20 gig 7200 rpm.

You can get a 40 gig western digital for around $125 and a seagate or maxtor is $124
