Civic Weight

hehe. You know what....

People adding like 6 woofers to their car and amps and all that want to race with their civics are kinda funny. hehe.

I think woofers weigh quite a bit and so do amps. It probably adds more weight to the car and makes your car slower.

Correct me if I'm wrong?

It's like racing with this:

Why did someone race you with 6 subs?

Yeah, I kept all that stuff outta my Civic, but it's all in my daily driver/winter car. I'm thinking about removing the stereo altogether in favour of an already purchased Autometer Ultralite trio.

Well.. leave the deck in at least.. cuz that weighs just as much as the factory deck. Unless you wanna remove your deck, speakers.. then maybe you can lighten your car! hehehe.

Speaking of lightening cars... does Honda have any rally cars? They should make a AWD Civic!

The aftermarket stuff is all out cause the deck rattled in the mounting plate over every bump, and that pisses me off...My car has no other squaks or rattles, so I decided to do away with the Pioneer deck. The stock one doesn't rattle, but it's also just AM/FM, so in this case, I'm prolly gonne scrap all the speakers and deck, but leave the wiring in, just in case. Then, replace the deck with sweet sweet gauges. I have volt, oil press, air/fuel so far, and I need to buy oil temp and boost for once I go turbo. This is all in preparation for 300hp.

By they way, they have SOHC AWD Civics in Japan.

Or you could be just like McLaren himself.

He has a killer sound system in the McLaren F1... It plays CDs but it doesn't have a radio function

They dont add that much. Most amps arnt that heavy, maybe 5-10 lbs, but sub boxes can be heavy. If your worried about weight, make a fiberglass box. I made one for dave, and with sub installed didn't weight over 20lbs.

I dont think your going to notice much diff from an added 50 lbs max.

Besides some people rather cruise in comfort, than have a stripped car with no ammenities, just so they can reach the speed limit .5 sec faster than the next guy.

I'm the "other" kind. I build cars with a purpose, so anything I don't really need, I get rid of. This is why I have a daily driver, a 4x4 and a Civic. Now I need a RWD muscle car, either Japanese or American. Shopping for a 92-93 Mustang LX 5.0 5 spd, 95-96 Camaro V8 6 spd, or Nissan 240SX w/ SR20DET or 2nd gen RX7 turbo.

The McLaren system was custom built by Kenwood for McLaren by his specs and they cut something like over 30% of the weight of their system for McLaren's approval. I don't really have that much of a need for tunes since I like to hear the engine and road. All sensory inputs are a large component of my driving.

I take my Sub box out when I'm autocrossing and it makes a pretty big difference in the rotation of the car (it weighs about 75lbs) it's just strapped to my rear strut tower bar with some backstrapping and a couple of screws. I don't bother with the amp rack/deck/speakers cuz there's no time and they don't weigh too much. I think my car's only like 2200-2300 lbs and that's definetely an advantage in racing, I think my race rims save me over 100lbs compared to my 17's too.
