plexi and lexan are diff't!

plexi is brittle and cheap, and yellows under sunlight

lexan holds up to UV and blocks it too! and it's very flexible - it can be bent at a 90 degee angle cold!! you can't do that with plexi. it is also at least double the cost of plexi.

for a poop shield I'd use the plexi that you can buy at Home Depot.

I'd use lucite...basically its a comprimse between lexan and plexi...its flexible, blocks UVs, wont yellow and is fairly scratch resistant...its what I used for my sunroof plug on my 1st gen crx...its not very expensive either and available at Home Depot

its used for window replacements in houses/garages/sheds etc

i also need some clear plastic for a school project, im making a model of a city and i was thinking of using lexan as the shell, and then nailing small wooden frames on to it (as design). will this hold up well? is it ok to nail into lexan??
buildings would be approx 15*8*50

i don't think you can nail stuff into it, you'd have to drill through and then screw and bolt stuff into it..

Yea, nailing wont work, itll crack, you need to drill into it, and even then you gotta be careful cause it can split lol.

plexy can crack when drilling, Lexan is less likely to. Also Lexan is a commercial name like Kleenex... I think the actual name for it is polycarbonate.

ok so if i carfully drill, then it would be ok? its not gonna be big enuff to bolt, its jus minature office buildings.
how about some super strong glue??

the reason i want them transparent is cos i'm putting L.E.D. in side.

You are correct Bruno, it is called polycarbonate, they make R/C bodies out of it, that's why they can take abuse. I'd assume glue would work fine, long as its strong.

you can't glue wood to plastic ... well you could using hot glue or something, but it wouldn't look pretty or work too well. If you are attaching wood to it, I'd say drill through the plastic and then use finishing nails to nail into the wood through the hole in the plastic.

Oh I read that wrong, I thought that it was a whole plexi thing, my bad. Just follow bruno's idea, I'd be cleaner, or just use self tapping screws, but be careful putting them in.
