Unhappy ...close the curtains, keep it dark...

Do you ever suffer from migraines?
How often do you get them?
Is there anything you do that eases the pain?

Yeah, I'm the same as Alex.

I assume you get them Sharona? - How do you deal w/ them? Any tips / suggestions / etc? (Assuming you do).

Sharona I suffer frm them quiet badly, I have whats known as Hemiplegic Migraines, not many suffer from them, but when I do get them it's quiet intense, basically looks like Im having a stroke, I get all the symtoms, numbness down one side of my body, speech is slurred, temporary blindness in one eye ( also known as aura's), I have absolutely no control over anything basically... I've suffered from migraines since I was 16yrs old, but as of last year I started to suffer from the Hemiplegic ones. It's really deteriating, for the past month I had one basically every week, it got to the point where I had 5 in four weeks. I went and saw my neurologist and she shays my risk for a stroke increases because they are so close together, my risk is already high when suffering from these to start. She's put me on medication that I take every day, hopefully to try and control or slow down the amount of them, I also take a very strong anti inflammatory, aswell as carry around demerol pills to take when an attack comes on. Before I would go to the hospital and be put on an IV for 8 hours that wouldnt do anything, they actually gave me something that they shouldnt of that caused my blood pressure to drop so quickly that I passed out in the bathroom at the hospital multiple times (thank god for my Mum being there). Most hospitals wont give me the shot of demerol thats required to stop all of this terrible pain. Hence why I now have demerol pills to take myself when the attack begins. It's a genitic disease, it'll never go away. Im also not allowed to take any of the "migraine pills" that are advertised on tv or magazines, those could actually give me a stroke aswell, so fun times!

it's not instantaneous..
there are warning signs..

yes, it comes on fast, but not where she can't get herself to safety and still have a lot of time to spare...it's nothing like an epileptic seizure that comes on w/o warning or a true stroke that comes on the same way.....
she has time to be proactive

I sometimes get this pinpoint headache when I touch one spot of my head. i.e. washing my hair. But not all the time, once in a blue moon.

why DO they or why DONT they ?

for some ppl it doesnt always work .. or some ppl take em soo often that the effect isnt the same as opposed to someone who doesnt take drugs like myself ...

there is only 1 headache drug i would take cause i know it works 100% of the time .. and thats ...

wait for it ...

wait for it .....
