no one has commented on that fact that "women deserve equal rights" can lead to an death penalty in another country under a government we're okay with.

and it's all thanks to their religion on why they choose to do as has always been done and not to think for themselves.

Much like a friend of mine who is catholic only really because his parents brought him up catholic and he's never really thought properly about it. He also fails to see how his beliefs are just as wrong other people's different beliefs, and for the exact same reason.

--

on a side not, think of how lucky most of us are when we can say the government is full of **** heads who try and control us (ie speed limiters)

at least we don't get executed for an ugly spoiler..

Wasn't Christ a Jew?

In any case, you're the one who said that all religions are not created equal.

One can easily argue that Catholicism is just another "created" religion, mixing in bits of both pagan beliefs and Judaism to create an alternate religion with wider marketing appeal.

Don't you find it more than a little odd that most major Christian holidays also line up fairly precisely with the dates of ancient pre-Christianity pagan festivals? Christmas in particular comes to mind. Celebrating the birth of the Jesus the Son of God? Or is that celebrating the rebirth of the Sun God as the days start to get longer again after the winter Solstice?

It sure makes it look like Christianity was one big marketing exercise designed to lure its new recruits from the ranks of the other religions of the times, using promises of life ever-lasting and bigger and better parties on the religious holidays. What better way to lure the faithful from one religious festival than to stage a bigger and glitsier festival of your own in support of the new religion on the market. Worked for Christianity for a while, worked for Amway too for a while later on.

In any case, suggesting that one religion is somehow superior or more correct than another is sheer chauvinistic arrogance. Too many wars have been fought because one group of people were so certain that their way was the only proper way to honour God, and that all other ways constituted blasphemous offence to God and therefore must be beaten down.

and that's your opinion that you're entitled to. do i expect people of other religions to believe that my religion is the true religion? obviously not, otherwise they'd be a part of it. If you believe in whatever God you believe in but at the same time don't believe that your religion is the true religion, your faith is obviously rocky.

Thinking that my religion is the true religion isn't arrogance, it's true faith. I'm sure many people of other religions feel the same way.

as for the pagan ****, honestly, try getting a real education instead of watching retarded youtube videos about conspiracy's behind Christianity.

You mean they actually discuss Christianity's co-opting of pagan beliefs, festival dates, customs, and whatnot on youtube? I didn't know that. See, you learn something new every day.

Anyways, for the curious, do a google search on "christianity pagan roots" and start checking out the serious and not so serious takes on Christianity's successful rebranding of ancient pagan spiritual beliefs.

these threads are pointless b/c you always bash religion and some ppl on here might take offense to that.
but it's really funny to watch people get bent out of shape over their beliefs. i don't get bent out of shape when i'm told i'm going to hell for not worshiping that which does not exist. that's the advantage of having confidence in MY belief system. have some confidence in yours and you won't feel the need to defend it as much. (not directed at you 1999blksi, just a general observation)

if anything, I'd totally be Buddhist

The problem with Religion and Politics is politics is always going to get critized and when you mix in religion it's going to get critized as well.

If you speak out against the Policys of Isreal, you are instantly labelled a Jew Hater, If you speak out against the laws that are used in say Iran, you are labelled an Enemy of Islam.

It is for that reason above that religion and politics should remain separated, States should be critized and will always be critized for their policies, thats the only way to make them better.

some religion claims "this is the one true religion, all non believers are going to hell", since more then one religion claims this and no person can truly be a believer of a religion while keeping one foot in the door of another religion then if all claims are correct, then we are all going to Hell, so if we are all going to hell, whats the point in spending time following religion?

for the record I attend a church on Sundays.

Don't you find it funny how so many people spend time critisizing and trying to take down the Catholic Church?

I wonder why...

But apparently I'm not.

Only atheists are entitled to opinions. All others are simply arrogant.
