Computer help
OK, when you turn on your comp and it does a systems check and then the Win98 splash screen comes on for a few minutes and then another screen shows some paths of directories. What do those directories mean? Where can you edit them?
For some strange reason my GF's comp has a path with funny characters in them and at the bottom it says "Bad command name or file".
The system still boots up fine but we want to get rid of that "error".
path i.e. C:\windows\blah\blah\blah...... or C:\set path\ blah\blah\.......

You are going to have to get the whole file name. Anyway.. to edit it go to start... run... type in "sysedit".. look around in win.ini or system.ini.. make sure you know what you are deleting.. btw type sysedit without the quotes.

To: Slvr-Bullet, it is actually the "Autoexec.bat" that you need to look at!
It is located at the root of the C Drive.
You can either using "Sysedit" from within Windows.
Or
easier way...just go to Windows Explorer, locate the file, right click and "Edit using Notepad", make the necessary changes and save.
If you see "Funny Character" on the screen, unless she is using some Chinese Software with directory name in Chinese which cannot interpret by Eng-Windows,
otherwise, I would run scandisk to check for drives errors, such as crosslink files or lost clusters.
Worse case, check for virus.
Hope the info. could help!
