Computer Parts
Just wondering if any of my fellow TCC peeps can get good deals on computer parts... I'm looking to buy a barebone Shuttle XPC SN41G2 (The AMD nvidia2 Mobo), but the cheapest I've found it is $529 at Canada computers. Does anyone know where I can get it any cheaper? I also need a few more parts, Radeon AIW 8500DV, 512mb DDR 333 or 400, AMD Athlong XP 2000+ and an 80gb Harddrive. If you can get me any info on the cheapest places in the GTA I'd be most grateful. TIA

you can't bargain in CC, they don't do bargaining, believe me, i tried but if you pay cash, maybe they can give you the stuff for one tax.
cc's service is not that bad, last time i returned something, they gave my money back without asking much qs... my friend's mb died in 2 weeks and they exchanged it without much qs either, so cc is pretty good.

Here’s the problem as I see it
You’re looking at the AMD nvidia2 Mobo and a XP 2000+ both are fine if that’s what you’re looking for
But as for the XP2000+ Why?
If your going to get a case that won't allow you to cool the CPU then your going to have problems down the road
If I were you I’d look for a normal board and case then move up to a 2200+ or even a 2400+
But that’s me
As for your ram?
Do you want 333 of 400?
There not the same and I’d hate for you to get home and find your computer shuts it's self off now and again only to take it apart and not know what’s going on then upgrade the bios only to have that do nothing then get so pissed you load a new os and the **** still happens then when your buddy sees you kick the computer across the floor and when he picks it up notice you used the wrong ram
Oooops
Went off there for a second
Anyways
I don't think your going to find a good price for that Box
For the other stuff I could look into it but I hate doing that
Only to be told somewhere else can get it cheaper (yes you pay both taxes with me)

Dunno if you've checked here, but I shop @ PCCanada
its on lakeshore in etobicoke
its a decent place, ive never had any problems with stuff that came from there. or else id goto an ICC Computer store (i think that is the name) they have good prices, but horrible service.
go grab a Computer Paper and look in there, just scan thru the ads. that paper is like 80% ads... (like most import car mags.. *cough*)... oh and its free

The board supports "DDR 200/266/333/400 * 2(Dual Channel)" so that means it won't matter what speed RAM I buy right?
But for my application I'm thinking that 333 will do just fine.
Looks like I gotta run onboard sound and video for a bit till I can afford the Radeon.
As for the CPU what would you reccomend then? Think the 1800+ will do? I'm running a athlon 900 and I find it too slow when im converting video.
Right so tell me what you think....
