I have to agree with Marty. I've built my last 3 computers and never regret doing it. That said, here at my house we also purchased a Dell and configured it ourselves. I'm happy to say that it's been problem free and even after 3 years Dell is still providing superb support for it — even if my father just has general questions about memory upgrades, etc. I've also torn apart the Dell a few times to add upgrades to it and they do use reputable parts in it.

Still, I would prefer to build my own computer and be absolutely sure of what's in it, save some money in the process, and have the satsifaction of doing it myself.

Unfortunately, I think my next machine is going to be a Mac, but that's only because of my profession.

So, go with Marty's suggestion.
