Damn... should I have press charges

So my girlfriend and I were off to Rogers to drop off a DVD we rented earlier today. As I was signaling to make a left, waiting for my turn, this male preceded the car in front, thus running a stop sign. He slowed down, I mouthed off (like stop sign you ****ing idiot), so he opened his window as I did I. I yelled "ARE YOU DUMB? THERES A STOP SIGN" and he said "GO GET A HAIRCUT".

Anyways he went to park; I reversed, and went his way. So then as I drove by he was staring. So I left the plaza, and the guy comes up behind. I was making a right (stupid red-light!) as he was making a left. He comes towards me so I close my window (but I forgot to lock doors as my GF just opened the door).

He opens the door, grabs my cell phone, and throws it over my car, landing on the sidewalk. I obviously trigged the anti-jacking (panic mode) and walked in front of his car. But he floored it so I got out of the way.

I then immediately called the cops, I was traumatized. The operator asked, police, fire or ambulance for like a few times. Then I said I don't know and told her the story. She wanted me to meet up with an officer incase someone else might get hurt next time.

I met up, talked, and explained the situation. Asked if I wanted to press charges, I said no. (I saw the officer wrote assault on his notes). I was too frightened, all I wanted was a new housing for my phone but I kept quiet.

Is it too late to ask for a new phone? My V400 was in very good condion, now it is scratched, the keypad lights doesnt always turn on.

 It was so scary... the guy was like 20x my size.

I decided to reverse and take the plates down because I needed to get something. What if something happened to my car, I would have a potential lead with the license plate. Which I got and reported to the officer.

Then people should stop provoking people knowing they will get themselves into problems instead of doing it anyways then being a crybaby when they get what they asked for.

honestly, what kind of person walks up to your car, opens the door and grabs stuff inside of it (in this case a cell phone)?? This guy is clearly a nut, and has a case of road rage or something... Yes Azxtser was stupid for following him into the parking lot, but I hardly think yelling at someone and following them can justify opening someones car and throwing thier property around..

What is the procedure for compensation/small claims?

Fido still has the V400 for $275 + tax.

Are court fees covered if you win?

"Duke it out". Dude, if I layed a finger on him, then it would put ME at risk of a charge.

Then why scream at him like a bad-***? Frankly I think your a extremly large vagina and he should of crushed you for being mouthy and showing off infront of your girlfriend. I'm not the only one that thinks that on this board.

keep your mouth shut if you're not manly enough to confront someone OUTSIDE of your car. consider yourself lucky you didn't get a bullet in your kneecap. lots of crazies out there.

all yall talk big...including the people saying "you shoulda kept ur mouth shut" I can bet that all yall have yelled at somebody for cuttin you off or whatever regardless of who is in the car (if you even got to see before you yell) and I know that yall would lock up ur windows and doors if a 6'6" 250Lbs+ individual rolled up on your car...a bat is no good in the trunk if u have 250lbs+ of goonie standing outside your door

in the end, go home, change ur undies, get a new phone and call it a day...**** happens and this time it happened to you
