Deck Stains
#2
What kinda wood is it? I recently used Minwax on spruce and it turned out really nice. If its been treated before I suggest sanding it off, spraying it again to get rid of small particles, then prep it with pre-stain to ensure it goes on evenly, stain it, then seal it with matte or semi gloss.

Staining is a *****. I'll never stain a deck again.
A good ol powerwash does the trick every year. And it looks primo.
At my parents house, 2 years ago we put in that "fake" wood. Its plastic but looks like wood? I dunno, its expensive and its sitll holding up like new, looks like new, no regrets whatsoever.

...this is exactly what I've been told...a thorough powerwash and then Thompson's...

Yeah, it's wood stain. I just got back from Home Depot with 3 gal. of C-I-L semi transparent oil stain for fence, siding, and deck. I'll try it out and take some pics of before and after to see if it makes nice.
I'll post it in an hour.

Here's some pic of the deck. It's been worned out to what actual wood looks like. As you can see, I had no choice but to stain it.
Home Depot special
The right side's just been stained so it looks like paint because it hasn't dry yet and settled into the wood.
This is what it looks like before staining.

looked like all it needed was a powerwashing to get the weather off it and then a sealing with thompson's...woulda looked just like new after that...you really shoulda replaced a couple of them planks too...that one in the bottom right of the last picture looks like it belongs on steve's old deck haha
