Digital Camera Help??
Hello fellas and some ladies....
Anyways, enough of my bull ****....
I need some help understanding digital cameras, planning on getting it this week. What's the difference between brands? I mean is Olympus' 2.0 megapixel the same as Sony's 2.0?
Also what camera do you guys recommand? I would use the camera to take pics of the car and some other things - I wouldn't say that I use it alot. Want something cheap but good quality, like I said, I don't use it that often so no need for something fancy.
Thanks.

menu options and features are the main diff between good brands... but I believe everyone can agree that Canon PWNES JOO! Second, I guess Sony, Nikkon, Minolta, Olympus... etc... they all make nice peices... just look at those hardcore digi mags, and buy their best picks... you know how they have like camera shootouts and stuff, right? And then they choose the best. Or like Editors Choice....

Ya, mags are soooo evil, they make you want things Expensive new things
Spending a decent amount of coin on a camera is never a waste. With the quality we get now, for like $7-8 bills you can get a nice camera. Some are in the Class for sale every once in a while.

In my opinion Canon is the way to go with digital cameras. i was in the same situation as you about a month ago before i decided to buy the Canon S400 (probably over-kill for you though). If you do a search you can probably find my thread, it has lots of useful and informative replies there.

I bought a Canon A300 for $289..it has 3.2 megapixels with 5X zoom.....pretty good..i;ve seen alot of cameras with only 2 megapiels for 400-500.
I was gonna buy it at future shop, but they were sold out...i ended up buying it from Wal-Mart....i also picked up a 128 MB flash card for $80.00.
PS..anyone looking for the Nickel-hydrate recharchable batteries or whatever they're called..go to Japan Camera..they have a charger that comes with 4 battereis (the 2000's) for $29.99...not the $** everyone else sells them for!!!!!

yeah, theres a wire that you plug into the back of your computer...very easy...all you do is stick it into the camera and it automatically launches the software to download the pictures!
The Canon A300 comes with editing software.

Go to futureshop/bestbuy to look at the cameras, staples dont really have alot of choices.
Pick some thats in your price range (forget about the features for now), pick some and search on google those ones and check out reviews/pic samples. IF you like it buy it, thats what I did when I got my olyumpus right now. 3.0 megapixel, it was hard choosing toshiba those other brands with 4.0 megapixel I think, but really your taking pics of car you aint no photographer higher the megapixel the less the memory stick can hold, no point having REALLY high quality of the car if you cant host it on the net right? (well you can but people takes long to host it) unless its for viewing on computers.
If you do however get it at staples I can help you get at least $20 off if its over $200, got coupons
Also the camera uses memory card/sticks in order to have the image saved. Some uses memory sticks, smart media, ETC. You would also need to get a bigger one most cameras come with 32mb which is really little. As for connecting it to your computer, it uses USB and plugs into your camera, you may have a memory card reader or a printer (I do) that can read these cards those will work as well

Gee, I wonder how many pics in the Club gallery came from my cheap 2.2MP digi cam......let me go count.
Your only mad because I only paid $225 for mine, and it takes GREAT pics.
It also comes with one of the EASIEST uploading programs that you can get.
Put cam in docking station, and press one button.......it automatically loads the pics into a folder to store them. Under 5 seconds to unload a 16MB card. Gives you a choice of a mess load of stuff to do with the pics while loading them to the computer.
Even you would be able to handle that Slvr-Bullet.
by the way, notice how I spelled your name right?
