Digital Cameras
I know that this topic has been dealt with before, but technology changes quickly so let's be up to date! 
I'm planning ahead to the digi cam I wanna get, provided I get a good tax return this year. (Nothing like planning ahead, eh?)
I'm looking at Kodak and Sony brand digi cams so far and I've read a bunch of reviews online already. Both of them rate very well in the reviews I've read about them, but was just wondering if any body had cameras from either company? What's the day to day experience with it like? Are they easy to use? Easy to lose? And of course, do they look cool?
I know, I know. Go with Canon. It's just that everybody and their mother has a Canon Powershot and I was just wondering what else is out there.

well ... my group of friends had a communal SONY 2.1MP digi cam from back in the day .. and it was finnaly lost in panama city in 2002 LoL Dont ask... nothing but good things to say about that cam !the pics (even tho it was only a 2.1 MP) where really clear.. a bunch of nice features (b/w sepia all that jazz) the one thing again to remmber if its for every day use ur really only ever gonna use at the most 95% of the time 2-3 MP becasue ur not blowing these pics up on billboards or nuthin... but ya i have a 4MP SONY which again has really excellent quality.. i guess its bias but ive stuck to the sonys and love em .. (only bitch it the mem sticks) but even now u can get a generic sony stick for pretty cheap (60 for a 512 or 1gb dont remember)

get a FujiFilm A330 they're cheap now and really good quality pics..... I've had a Sony and I've noticed that they eat batteries like mad and you can only use sony brand memory sticks, and they don't come with powercords... that's why I complained about batteries having to recharge after every half hour of use..

i don't see a problem with sony... it all depends on what use you have for hte pictures... for example BB you use your pictures in your graphic design stuff...
but for the average person that just takes pictures to pass them on to their friends without retouching them or using them for anything serious or huge a sony is the best bang for the buck IMO. again size isn't too attractive but i'm a poor *** student so if it takes pictures and is decent i don't need it to fit in my *** crack, so long as it does it's job...
although if i was bruno i could fit my sony in my *** crack

i found that sony and kodak have really weird menus and are hard to navigate. i dont like canon's menus either
out of all the cameras i have owned, the fujis had the easiest, fastest and most intuitive menus.
i have a minolta now and its ok
keep in mind that all cameras are capable of taking a good picture, and most of picture taking is in the skill of the person using it.
go out and try out the cameras in the store to see which one you like and will actually use. what is the point of owning what is reported as a good camera if you get annoyed with how you use it?

i still say find a decent connon or olympus...
if you can find a minolta that is good go for it also...
cause i would stay away from fuji, kodak, hp, and so on...
menues are a good option but many cameras have alot of quick features, and most people don se all the features in their camera...
but i would stay with the brands that have been making cameras for years...

you want something that is durable and is built to last...
i have the olympus stylus 300, 3.2pgm its great, all metal, all weather proof design, so moisture is not gonna kill the camera... but shop around...

I am determined to stay away from Canon though. Yes, I know that they make good cameras, but no for me!!
I used to have an old Sony digicam back in the day (it was so old, it couldn't have been more than 1 or 2 mp!) and it took decent shots. The battery life and memory in it were horrible though since neither were removable and the camera was getting up in its years...
I'm still leaning towards Kodak and Sony, but will be checking out Olympus, I like the idea of all weather proof design.
btw, thanks for the tips on the size of the Sony 3.2mp camera; I know that the 4mp one I was looking at is kinda based off the earlier one and here I am thinking that they were both damn small.
