DirectTV :P

If this thread isnt allowed please delete.
My cousins are looking for DirectTV. Right now they have bell expressvu and it sucks like crap and they pay like $30 for basics + the chinese channel which is mad expensive. Anyways i was talking to my cousin and said how they should get direct tv. She said she is interested and if I know how much.
Well since she ALREADY has a dish I was wondering if you could just change the reciever?
And if you have hookups, places to get it installed and everything please PM ME so we can talk more privately, not in public

Give me some prices.

My friend just got one for $500. I am thinking WOW. I've seen deals for around $300 on canadian forums but they dont have any more dish, reciever to sell.
And no buying from ebay wont work.

I will not PM anyone about the system as many of you know I work for bell mobility.. I'm sorry but I value my job (bbarbulo this is not just in response to you but also to the other people that pm'ed me asking) as for how it's done the most I can say is there are pentium computers on the market that "hook up" to the reciever and act as a card they are called emulators...never go down...interesting tech

That's not true...

It just depends how good the, ahem, "hacker" is..

Inside jobs happen everywhere...

Even Bell ExpressVU..

STOP USING THE TERM HACK

It is totally not what Testers are doing.

Any dish can be emulated.

If you find out the network of Look uses (Like DishNetwork) than it'll be easier to find information.

Illegal. No if ands or buts. You're stealing canadian content and they won't tolerate it.

Who ever said you can say you're just 'testing channels', I wish them luck if they get caught. That excuse will get them nowhere. If you're stealing/tapping/listening to an encoded signal you're commiting a crime.
How about I pump my gas and claim I'm just testing their brand of gas. No deal.

If you do anyhitng do DTV. For good info, www.sat-tech.net

AzimuthX,

it is hacking ... heres why..

Hacking is the process of making some form of technology work outside it's designed parameters... thats it in a nutshell thats what hacking is... when hacking started (back in the 60's and 70's) there was no "hacking for profit" (commonly refered to by the hacker community as cracking) there was no profit in computers at the time. now there is there is tons of profit in it, I can't say how I know this (one the statue of limitations and secondly MY JOB) call it what you want but by "getting chanels for free" your not testing anything it's BS if you were "testing" then the company that wanted the "testing" done would set you up with a perfectly good system. by circumventing the "pay for use" protections you are in fact applying the definition of hacking to the system, therefore you infact are "hacking it" and this is coming from someone who has well I can't speak of my experinces but I hope you get the picture call it what you will.

also in response to the hacked stuff always goes down... yeah you are correct the emulator gets hit evry so often but it doesn't get hit nearly as much as DTV. but once again I'm shutting my yap (it's also easier to get going again) ok I'm done...

once again I would like someone to pull up the telecom act and point out where it says messing with decoding equipment is a violation (I still don't believe it is or it would be illegal for both DTV and expressvu and every other system)

just more of my 2 cents on this

Sorry I'm not a lawyer type, would be hard to interpret what the law represents. Ok I stand corrected. Emulators are still the safest to test channels as of now, way better than Hu cards. For whoever thinks DTV and Hu cards will get you unlimited channels, I sure hope you have a million of these cards stocked up or else you would be missing your favourite **** shows.

See, now before AzimuthX claims to be "SMARTER" than me and telling me it is just "TESTING" channels.
Sounds BS to me man....and I would perfer calling it hacking buddy.
Juts like gather said...you are getting more channels then you are paying for, is that not illegal?

In court....
Lawyer: "Hi what is your case?"
AzimuthX: "I got caught TESTING channels"
