This thread is going in the wrong direction........keep it on the subject you guys.

Aaron, here's what I heard before. Double the minimum wage for either job as a start. (more or less).

If they do more than just cleaning (like cooking and laundry, for the maid), and more than just cutting the grass (like planting flowers, prunning the trees and bushes, outside or inside painting, for the contractor/general labourer), then 3 times the Minimum wage, more or less would be appropriate.

Perhaps you should talk to your girlfriend Aaron.....from the sounds of it YOU are the lazy one.....sitting around the house on the boards all day....she wishes you would get off your lazy *** and start doing some of those jobs rather than paying someone else...

And you know its true..... was said to a little birdie I know while she was grinding the gears on the A4 just keeping you in the loop

well, we had a nanny...........we paid her 1200 a month, this was many years ago. About 1995. Plus, we gave her room and board. Also, my sisters nanny charged about 14oo a month, and she was in charge of my raising my sister. She was given a room and free food. We paid her more since my sister was little, and needed to be watched during all hours of the day. The nannys would do everythng. Our nanny had a expense account. She did not buy groceries, but she did buy us things, and she would show the reciepts to my father. So, on average, i saw about 1700 a month, for a full time live in nanny is appropriate
