That's true.. I wash my car by hand and I love doing it... it gets it CLEANER... but sometimes in the winter.. I just send it through the car wash...
Or even in the summer... if I'm in a rush.. and it's like 1 PM and the sun's too much ... (so I can't wash it at home)... and I need my car clean, I'll run it through the Petro car wash in a heartbeat.

hand wash car. if not that, take it somewhere where they'll hand wash it for you. If you take your car through an automated soft cloth wash only a few times, IT WILL scratch it period.
touchless washes are useless and a waste of money. If you so choose to wash your car without having any cloth or brushes touch it, spray water on it at home and save your money. This is exactly what the owner of the carwash next to my work said.

My car is hand wash only. If you go to a drive in carwash or, a self serve car wash at some gas station, what you are doing is slowly stripping your car of it's clear coat or paint. I'll explain why. Most places use soap that contains acid in it. If it's a touchless wash, there is a lot more acid than usual. Say you go to a self serve wash, and use the spray hose and turn the selector to soap...you are infact turning it to acid. Acid is used because to really get grime and dirty off your paint without agitation, acid is the only way to go...essentially, you are eating the dirt off, plus some of your clear coat/paint. No one know this do they? I only learned of this recently when someone told me...his wife designs car washes and knows what goes into them and out of them. Acid is a no no for my car... Even in the winter, what I'll do is bring a bucket, a wash mit and my own soap and go to a self serve wash and use my soap instead and only use their rinse feature.
Cheers,
Buddah.

Man, my buddies used to work at one of these... I can't even count the number of luxury vehicles that got scratched hardcore in one of these... and other vehicles too, but I'm talking $60K plus cars getting fuct.
Don't risk it... unless it's one that's pure high pressure, and drives around your car rather than a track pulling you through the damn thing.

I only use car washes in the winter though, since I can wash my car at home on the driveway when the weather is nice.

they wash part of your car then wash each other.. then your car then each other..
If only they existed
