dsl questions

do you guys understand what a cap is? it regulates how much network bandwidth goes to each individual user. for the last time EVERYONE is capped... EVERYONE! If you werent capped, you would be getting T1 speeds (ridiculously fast) , while others were getting dial up speeds, and the next person that requested info when your comp. stopped quering would get all the bandwidth and you would get dial up speeds, if anything.
Assuming that DSL is capped at 300kbps download speed, cable is more like 500kbps due to the fact that cable networks generally have more bandwidth, so they can share the love a bit more (more to go around). Note: those numbers are ficticious and are merely for example to show comparison

mr steeleclipse...you are talking about one thing and they are talkin about another
yes, there is a bandwidth cap per speed...but most providers say they limit your montly bandwidth useage like on a website u get lets say 5gb per month and cogeco provider says u get 30gb combined ul/dl and I dont think thats enforced
just clearin thangs up

Also, generally cable is a little faster then the DSL we have around here, BUT, if you live in any area that is decently populated it's not worth getting cable at all because of the way the bandwidth is shared. I've never seen my Bell download anything slowing then 375K/sec whereas my sisters and a few of my friends have cable connections that can literally be slower then dialup during peak hours.

Hard to believe that the first question was about DSL and getting it w/o a landline.
He said 'he/she said they don't want to go to cable'
of course... this post ended up being a dsl vs cable post
blah
