Question duty fees on rims from california

Im going to get some rims off a shop in california since i dont seem to be able to get them here total cost is $425US for the rims, and $122.32 to ship

ok sounds good, but what about duty fees? How much would i be taxed on that item, and does it go by actual value or weight or how does this work? Ive bought a bunch of small things (records, shirts whatever) on ebay before and never paid duty

how wide am i going to have to open my wallet?

The duty is calculated differently depending on what the item is. I think generally something thats worth more than $100 is charged customs. I remember I ordered a suit from Ebay once that was worth $300-400 ish, and I had to pay almost $100 in customs. I'm guessing you can expect to pay that much too.

*EDIT*

You can dig around that site for more information if you really wanted to.

if you do decide to order from the US, the best shipping method is USPS.

UPS will rail you, as will fedex.

i highly suggest you DONT buy from the US. calculate how much your paying for the product, shipped, and duty will be quite a bit too.

duty = productvalue*tax + some handling fee

in the end, trust me it wont be worth it
